Methods for stabilizing pressure within a cryogenic device include receiving a flow rate value corresponding to an expected average mass flow rate of a cryogen through a needle probe of the cryogenic device during a cryotherapy treatment cycle; determining, based on the flow rate value, a target heater power to be applied to a heater associated with the cryogenic device for a treatment cycle, wherein the heater is configured to heat the cryogen; receiving an input for the treatment cycle; causing the cryogen to flow for a period of time toward the needle probe in response to the input; and apply the target heater power to the heater during the treatment cycle so as to heat the cryogen and stabilize pressure within the cryogenic device.

Embodiments of the present disclosure include a nasal pillow apparatus having a first nasal pillow, a second nasal pillow, and a connecting bar that connects the first nasal pillow to the second nasal pillow, the connecting bar being disposed below a bottom surface of the first nasal pillow and a bottom surface of the second nasal pillow. Each of the first nasal pillow and the second nasal pillow includes an inner wall having a first end and a second end opposite the first end; and an outer wall connected to the second end of the inner wall. When inserted into a nostril of a patient, the outer wall is configured to conform to the nostril by compressing in a first direction and expanding in a second direction.

The present invention generally relates to improved medical devices, systems, and methods. In many embodiments, devices, systems, and methods for locating and treating a target nerve with integrated cold therapy and electrical stimulation systems are provided. For example, nerve stimulation and cryoneurolysis may be delivered concurrently or alternately with the cryo-stimulation device. In some embodiments, the device may be operated by a single operator or clinician. Accordingly, embodiments of the present disclosure may improve nerve targeting during cryoneurolysis procedures. Improvements in nerve localization and targeting may increase treatment accuracy, physician confidence in needle placement during treatment, and clinical efficacy and safety. In turn, such improvements may decrease overall treatment times, the number of repeat treatments, and the re-treatment rate. Further, additional improvements in nerve localization and targeting may reduce the number of needle insertions, applied treatment cycles, and may also reduce the number of cartridge changes.

The disclosure describes a cryogenic device with a display device for displaying one of a plurality of user-interfaces associated with a plurality of cryogenic device states. The cryogenic device is configured to: generate an initial user-interface for display on the display device; determine that the cryogenic device is in a first state; generate, in response to determining that the cryogenic device is in the first state, instructions for rendering a first user-interface, wherein the first user-interface is associated with the first state; and cause the display device to display the first user-interface. In this way, the cryogenic device may have a dynamic user interface that is configured to response to states of the cryogenic device.

A portable, battery powered, hand-held system for releasing a controlled dose of aerosol medication for inhalation by a patient including a durable body and a medication cassette inserted in the durable body. The cassette includes a housing for containing a canister of medication, bears an identification code, and permits the canister to be manually depressed to release a dose, e.g., a metered dose, when out of the durable body. The durable body includes an actuator mechanism for engaging an inserted cassette and its canister, and an actuator release mechanism for controlling the actuator mechanism to depress the canister for a selected period of time to release the desired dose of medication and then the release the canister. The actuator mechanism, includes a compression spring for depressing the canister and a torsion spring for reloading the compression spring. The torsion spring is reloaded by rotating the cassette from an open position for delivering aerosol to a closed position. The actuator release mechanism includes a motor and trigger pin assembly that controls the release of the compression spring and the torsion spring, and, hence, the time that the canister is depressed. The motor operates in response to sensed flow satisfying a selected delivery threshold. The durable body includes a flow sensor having an asymmetrical orifice that is calibrated, independent of the cassette, to convert the sensed pressure due to flow into a flow rate. The orifice is separately calibrated for an inhalation flow rate range and an exhalation flow rate range over a selected number of known flow rates. The sensed pressure value is corrected for transducer offset drift and converted to a flow rate using the calibration data and piecewise linear interpolation.

Method and apparatus for releasing a controlled amount of aerosol

A method for releasing a controlled amount of aerosol medication is disclosed. The method of the invention is preferably used in connection with a portable, battery-powered, hand-held system for releasing a controlled dose of aerosol medication for inhalation by a patient. The inhalation breath flow of the user of the apparatus is monitored and the inhalation flow rate is measured, and inhalation volume is determined as a function of the measured flow rate. The measured flow rate is compared to predetermined minimum and maximum flow rate thresholds, and the determined flow volume is compared to predetermined minimum and maximum flow volume thresholds. When both the measured flow rate and the measured flow volume are between their respective the minimum and maximum thresholds, a signal is provided to release a controlled amount of aerosol.
