The present disclosure provides electroporation systems and methods of energizing a catheter for delivering electroporation. A catheter for delivering electroporation includes a distal section and an electrode assembly. The distal section is configured to be positioned in a vein within a body. The vein defines a central axis. The electrode assembly is coupled to the distal section and includes a structure and a plurality of electrodes distributed thereabout. The structure is configured to at least partially contact the vein. Each of the electrodes is configured to be selectively energized to form a circumferential ring of energized electrodes that is concentric with the central axis of the vein.

Electroporation system and method of energizing a catheter

A robotic catheter system includes an arch-shaped suspension system comprising a first and second vertical span, a horizontal span between the pair of vertical spans, and at least one robotic catheter head coupled to the horizontal span. The arch-shaped suspension system can include a pair of linear guide blocks that can be attached to a patient bed and in some embodiments the linear guide blocks can be configured to slidably move along a rail. The arch-shaped suspension system can be moved to allow for proper placement of the arch-shaped suspension system for use on a patient or for placing the system away from a patient or for storage. In some embodiments the robotic catheter system can include a suspension system cart for storing and moving the arch-shaped suspension system.

Suspension system for remote catheter guidance

A plurality of electrophysiological signals measured by a respective plurality of electrodes carried by a multi-dimensional catheter can be sorted relative to a direction of interest, such as a cardiac activation wavefront direction. An electroanatomical mapping system can be used to determine the orientation of the multi-dimensional catheter relative to the direction of interest. For example, the user can manually adjust the orientation by manipulating a slider, a wheel, or a similar graphical user interface control. As another example, the user can draw a presumed orientation on a geometric model. Once the orientation is determined, the system can sort the plurality of electrophysiological signals and output a graphical representation of the sorted plurality of electrophysiological signals, for example as a plurality of traces.

System and method for sorting electro-physiological signals from multi-dimensional catheters

Various embodiments of the present disclosure identify and correct for magnetic field distortions within a magnetic field for localization of a medical device within a patient. Such magnetic field distortions, often associated with the intrusion of a metallic object into the magnetic field, may cause an unacceptable level of localization error which aspects of the present disclosure correct for.

A corresponding number of virtual electrodes can be defined on the pathway of the virtual catheter, and one or more electrophysiology data points relevant to electrical activity at the virtual electrodes can be identified, allowing output of a graphical representation of electrophysiological signals corresponding to the identified electrophysiology data points. Relevant electrophysiology data points can be identified by applying one or more relevance criterion, such as a distance criterion, a bipole orientation criterion, a time criterion, and/or a morphology criterion.

A method for providing a localization system with detailed information regarding a catheter's construction, while at the same time preventing operator input errors, for use in a three-dimensional localization field, including providing a catheter having at least one feature, providing a catheter catalog for use by the localization system, wherein the catheter catalog comprises reference data relating to features of the catheter, placing the catheter into the localization field, creating a map with the localization field, locating the catheter on the map, and correlating features of the catheter within the localization field with measurements made by the localization system when the feature is at various locations.

Automated catalog and system for correction of inhomogeneous fields

A method of operating a positioning system by registering a first coordinate system of a first positioning system in a second coordinate system of a second positioning system includes determining an interpolation function configured to register the first, non-orthonormal coordinate system in the second, orthonormal coordinate system. Fiducial pairs are collected by the respective positioning systems, each of which contain a respective coordinate in the respective coordinate system, both of which refer to the same physical point in three dimensional space. Establishing a working interpolation function involves an analysis of the fiducial pairs using a thin-plate spline algorithm. The method further includes repeatedly obtaining a first coordinate in the first coordinate system and determining a corresponding second coordinate in the second coordinate system in accordance with the interpolation function.

System and method for re-registration of localization system after shift/drift

A system for controlling delivery of ablation energy by an ablation catheter to tissue in a body is provided. The system includes an electronic control unit configured to determine, responsive to a measurement signal from the ablation catheter, a value for a characteristic associated with the delivery of ablation energy to the tissue. In one embodiment, the characteristic is the degree of contact between the ablation catheter and the tissue. The unit is further configured to generate a control signal, responsive to the determined value of the characteristic, to control an amount of energy delivered from an ablation delivery element on the ablation catheter to the tissue. The amount of energy varies in response to the determined value of the characteristic when the determined value of the characteristic meets a predetermined condition relative to a threshold value for the characteristic.

System and method for controlling delivery of ablation energy to tissue

A method for registering a catheter navigation system to a three-dimensional image generally includes obtaining a three-dimensional image including position information for a plurality of surface points on a part of a patient's body, using a catheter navigation system to place a tool at a location on the surface of the patient's body, measuring position information for the surface location, identifying a corresponding location on the image, associating position information for the surface location and the location identified on the image as a fiducial pair, and using at least one fiducial pair to generate a mapping function. The mapping function transforms points within the coordinate system of the catheter navigation to the coordinate system of the three-dimensional image such that, for each fiducial pair, the mapping error is about zero. Suitable warping algorithms include thin plate splines, mean value coordinates, and radial basis function networks.

System and method for local deformable registration of a catheter navigation system to image data or a model

A system and method for navigating a medical device within a body are provided. The system includes an electronic control unit configured to determine operating positions for electrical and magnetic position sensors on the medical device within corresponding first and second coordinate systems. The first and second coordinate systems are defined by an electric field based positioning system and a magnetic field based positioning system, respectively. The magnetic position sensor is disposed proximate the electrical position sensor. The ECU is further configured to apply a mapping function correlating the operating positions which generates a mapped position for the magnetic position sensor in the first coordinate system responsive to the operating position of the magnetic position sensor in the second coordinate system. The ECU determines an adjusted operating position for the electrical position sensor in the first coordinate system responsive to the mapped position of the magnetic position sensor.
