In diabetes management applications, recent glucose measurement values may be clinically useful for acute diagnosis and for the calculation of a corrective therapy. However, the physiological significance of these measurements can lessen with time, which can lead to their becoming less relevant for calculating an effective therapy. A technique is presented for emphasizing analyte values in a diabetes management application during a therapeutic window. In this way, a user is notified that the glucose measurement value is the most current measurement and remains usable for therapy applications, such as an insulin bolus calculation.

A diabetes management system includes a handheld medical device, a mobile computing device, and a diabetes management application. The handheld medical device is configured to measure glucose in a sample of fluid residing in a test strip and associate a measurement time with the glucose measurement. The diabetes management application is configured to request a current device time from the RTC, determine a first device delta time by determining a difference between the current device time and an internal clock time, and associate a first timestamp with a glucose measurement, wherein the first timestamp is equal to the measurement time plus the first device delta time.

The method includes receiving, by the application program, an activation code to activate a feature of the application program and one or more parameters associated with a prescription. The method includes transmitting, by the application program, the activation code to a server and receiving an authorization code from the server, where the authorization code indicates a validity of the activation code. The method includes activating, by the application program, the feature using the activation code, the activation being performed in response to the activation code being valid; configuring, by the application program, the activated feature using at least one of the one or more parameters associated with the prescription; and generating, using the activated feature, data based on the one or more parameters associated with the prescription.

A computer-implemented method for managing accounts in a diabetes management system. The method includes receiving, by an account manager, a request to deactivate a first account associated with a healthcare provider. The first account may be associated with a plurality of patient accounts. The account manager may be implemented as computer executable instructions executing on a computer processor of a server device. The method includes removing, by the account manager, access to data associated with the first account. Each of the patient accounts associated with the first account are identified and may be deactivated by the account manager. An electronic notification may be sent to a person associated with each of the identified patient accounts, advising the person that the corresponding patient account has been deactivated. An audit record may be created in a data store, the audit record indicating the deactivation of the first account.

A method and apparatus for simultaneously recording and displaying video signals from two different video sources. The apparatus comprises a main channel processing circuit, a second channel processing circuit, and common circuitry. The common circuit comprises a digital video decoder pipe that decodes both first and second encoded video signals. A PIP picture is produced using a common reference clock that is derived from the first video signal. In a record mode, a second channel clock reference is coupled to the second channel processing circuit to produce a recordable signal using a digital encoder. The recordable signal also forms a PIP picture that is coupled to the main channel processing circuit to produce a PIP picture that is used to monitor the recording process.

A method and apparatus for simultaneously recording and displaying video signals from two different video sources. The apparatus comprises a main channel processing circuit/logic, a second channel processing circuit/logic, and common circuitry/logic. The common circuitry comprises a digital video encoder pipe that decodes both a first and second encoded video signals. The main channel processing circuit processes a first decoded video signal utilizing a first clock to form a main picture for display. The second channel processing circuit processes a second decoded video signal to form a PIP picture for combination with the main picture for display. The PIP picture is produced using a second clock signal that is independent from the first clock signal. In a record mode, the second channel clock is coupled to the second channel processing circuit to produce a recordable signal using a digital encoder. The recordable signal also forms the PIP picture that is coupled to the main channel processing circuit to produce a PIP picture that is used to monitor the recording process.

A system as described herein enables a user to access auxiliary information when viewing an enhanced performance television signal or program. Particularly, a television signal system is operative, configured, and/or enabled to allow a user to access and/or utilize auxiliary information when viewing a high definition or progressive-scan television signal. Briefly, an exemplary television signal system receives the auxiliary information/data (e.g. closed caption data) on a selected interlaced standard definition input, processes the auxiliary data, and combines or overlays the auxiliary data with a television (video) signal received on a selected input that does not have its own embedded auxiliary information/data. More particularly, an exemplary television signal system such as described herein involves using closed caption (CC) data from a standard definition signal, processing the CC data, and overlaying the CC data at a video rate of a higher definition signal selected for viewing that does not carry its own embedded closed caption data.

A processor is operative to detect a first command signal of a first control protocol from a user input device, and to detect one of first and second modes of the television signal receiver. The processor detects the first mode in response to making a connection between the television signal receiver and the external device via the digital data bus, and detects the second mode in response to terminating the connection between the television signal receiver and the external device via the digital data bus. The processor enables the input/output terminal to output a second command signal of a second control protocol to the external device via the digital data bus responsive to the first command signal if the first mode is detected. The processor enables a function of the television signal receiver responsive to the first command signal without enabling output of the second command signal to the external device if the second mode is detected.
