An apparatus to quickly position a start assist device for backstroke swimmers and remove said start assist device once the apparatus detects or is signaled that the swimmer has left to prevent injuries and obstructions caused by the start assist device. A mechanical embodiment of such an apparatus and a motorized embodiment of such an apparatus with a data input system to position the start assist device according to the individual swimmers needs and means to signal the start event are disclosed.

Start assist device for swimmers with positioning and removal mechanism

Various embodiments provide a system including connected system nodes, the system configured to provide timing and scoring for aquatic sports in pools. The spatial location of the nodes relative to the pool and pool reference points may be retrieved from the system and representations can be created. The representations may be used to first select the desired nodes for one or several sports events and then execute those sports events with the selected nodes. Electrical connections may be made from materials that withstand aggressive pool chemicals, such as titanium, Hastelloy or Inconel.

System for timing and scoring aquatic sports in pools

Various embodiments provide a connector system including a plug body and a connector body each having one of studs and jacks with parallel misaligned axes. A deformation of one or more of a plug body, studs, jacks, and a connector body is created when plugging together the misaligned studs and jacks. The deformation creates resultant forces between the studs and jacks for electrical contact. The studs and jacks may be solid metal corrosive-resistant parts, such as titanium, Hastelloy, or Inconel.

Deformable electrical connector system

A stackable connector system having upper and lower members is provided. The upper member has a first set of upper connections including studs or jacks and a second set of upper connections including studs or jacks that are opposite the first set of upper connections. The lower member includes a first set of lower connections including studs or jacks that are opposite the second set of upper connections. The second set of upper connections and the first set of lower connections have parallel axes that are misaligned in an unplugged state. The misalignment creates deformation of the upper member and/or lower member during insertion of the studs into the jacks when the second set of upper connections and the first set of lower connections are plugged together. The deformation creates a resultant force between the second set of upper connections and the first set of lower connections.

Stackable deformable electrical connector system

A starting block for swimming equipped with a single curved surface to facilitate track starts while reducing the trip hazard of such a surface. This allows for safer mounting from rear and side steps and removes undesirable gaps in the top surface of the starting block. A pliable embodiment of said curved surface can modify the distance of the curvature from the leading edge of the starting block to adapt to different swimmer needs. An apparatus to obtain said distance for a given swimmer from a meet management system to modify the pliable embodiment for quick change during time-constrained events such as meets.
