Innovations in user interface ('UI') features of electronic gaming machines (“EGMs”) are described. For example, control logic controls the UI of an EGM according to an iterative re-spin process, which uses reels and a reel area on a display screen of the EGM. In a given iteration of the re-spin process, the control logic identifies any locked reels. The control logic spins any unlocked reels for the given iteration on the display screen while holding locked reels in place. The control logic evaluates a condition that depends on whether the reel area encloses a special symbol stack for at least one unlocked, spun reel. If the condition is satisfied, the control logic continues the re-spin process. Upon exit from the re-spin process, the control logic determines a count of special symbol stacks in the reel area, determines an outcome of the re-spin process, and outputs an indication of the outcome.

A gaming device that initiates a series of game instances, and controls a display to display a multiplier meter that a) has a plurality of multiplier levels corresponding to respective ones of a sequence of multipliers applying to outcomes of the game instances and b) when a multiplier applies, indicates a current multiplier level. A gaming system and method which provides and tracks bonus sequence eligibility points accumulated by players playing the gaming devices in the gaming system. The gaming system maintains, for one or more players, a plurality of progressive awards, wherein for a specific player, one or more of the progressive awards is based, at least in part, on the quantity of accumulated bonus sequence eligibility points associated with or accumulated by that player. If a player forfeits a bonus sequence eligibility point (due to player inactivity) or otherwise loses a bonus sequence eligibility point (due to not winning a provided bonus sequence), the gaming system contributes at least part of a value of such forfeited or lost bonus sequence eligibility points to increase a bonus sequence award maintained by the gaming system.

Gaming system, gaming device and method for providing multi-level progressive awards

A gaming system and method disclosed herein enable a plurality of players to play for and attempt to win at least one progressive award and a bonus game. The gaming system includes a central controller in communication with a plurality of gaming machines. The central controller maintains a plurality of progressive awards associated with the gaming machines. Each gaming machine includes a primary game operable upon a wager placed by a player. Upon a determination that a designated one of the progressive awards will be provided, based on at least one play of the primary games, the central controller causes one of the gaming machines to provide the designated progressive award to the player of such gaming machine. Each gaming machine is also associated with a bonus game operable upon a triggering event in the primary game.

The gaming system and method disclosed herein provides and tracks bonus event eligibility points accumulated by players playing the gaming devices in the gaming system. Upon a triggering of a bonus event, the gaming system generates, for each bonus event eligibility point accumulated for each player, a random number from a predefined range of numbers. The gaming system determines which one of the accumulated bonus event eligibility points is the designated bonus event eligibility point, such as by determining which bonus event eligibility point is associated with the highest valued random number generated. The gaming system then enables the player that accumulated the designated bonus event eligibility point to participate in the bonus event. In the bonus event, one or more awards are provided to the player that accumulated the designated bonus event eligibility point.
