A method of determining an angular position of a target of an inductive angular position sensor system, relative to a substrate, includes the steps of: receiving, demodulating and digitizing signals, and reducing a DC-offset of the digital signals, and determining an angular position. The step of reducing the DC-offset involves: i) initializing a DC-correction value; ii) subtracting the DC-correction value to obtain DC-shifted signals; iii) clipping the DC-shifted-signals to obtain clipped signals; iv) calculating a first sum by summing values of the clipped signal over one period, and v) calculating a second sum by summing absolute values of the clipped signal over said period; vi) adding to each DC correction value K times the first sum divided by the second sum, where K is a predefined constant.

Device and method for determining an angular position of inductive position sensor

A position sensor device includes position sensor elements for generating analog sense signals. A digitization circuit is provided for a digital signal representative of the input phase based on the analog sense signals and a digital processing unit. An output signal is indicative of the position based on the first output of the processing unit. The processing unit comprises an error signal generator for computing an error signal indicative of a phase difference between the digital signal and a feedback signal. A digital filter filters the error signal to generate the first output. A feedback path provides the feedback signal based on the first output and a filter selector to select a filter to be applied from different filters. At least one input on which a common filter circuit operates is scaled differently for each of the different filters to select different filter bandwidths.

Digital phase tracking filter for position sensing

A method for communicating between a master and a plurality of slaves includes generating a communication frame including generating a slave data frame in each slave. The slave data frame has a data packet including one or more data bytes and at least one gap of variable time length comprising no information in the slave data frame. The gap may be at the beginning of said slave data frame before the beginning of the first data byte of said data packet and/or at the end of said data packet after the end of a last data byte of said data packet, where the gaps have a time length dependency based on parameters locally stored in each of said at least one slave. The slave data frame is transmitted sequentially where the gap increases for each subsequent slave.

High speed communication system

A transmitter-receiver circuit and a method for distance measurement between a first node and a second node of a radio network is provided, wherein a mode of the first node and a mode of the second node are switched from a normal mode for communication in the radio network to a mode for distance measurement, wherein, in the mode for distance measurement for a transit time measurement, a radio signal is transmitted by the first node and received by the second node and a radio signal is transmitted by the second node and received by the first node and a first distance value is determined by measuring the transit time of the radio signals. In the mode for distance measurement, for a phase measurement an unmodulated carrier signal is transmitted as a radio signal by the first node and received by the second node and an unmodulated carrier signal is transmitted as a radio signal by the second node and received by the first node and a second distance value is determined by measurement and calculation from four values of the phases for different frequencies of the radio signals. Whereby, the distance between the first node and the second node is calculated from the first distance value of the transit time measurement and the second distance value of the phase measurement.

Transmitter-receiver circuit and method for distance measurement between a first node and a second node of a radio network

In certain embodiments, a method includes transmitting, by a first node, a first signal with a first frequency. The method includes receiving a second signal with a second frequency by downmixing the second signal to an intermediate frequency. The method includes determining a first value of a first phase for the second frequency. The method includes transmitting a third signal with a third frequency, the first frequency and the third frequency having a frequency difference, and receiving a fourth signal with a fourth frequency, the second frequency and the fourth frequency having the frequency difference. The method includes determining a second value of the first phase for the fourth frequency. The first frequency and the second frequency are spaced apart by an amount of the intermediate frequency, and the third frequency and the fourth frequency are spaced apart by the amount of the intermediate frequency.

Distance measurement between two nodes of a radio network

A circuit of a node in a radio network and method for transit time measurement between a first node and a second node of a radio network is provided. A frame is transmitted by the first node, wherein the frame requires an acknowledgment of reception by the second node. A first point in time of the transmission of the frame is established by the first node by a time counter. The frame is received by the second node at a second point in time. The acknowledgment is transmitted by the second node to the first node at a third point in time, wherein the third point in time depends on the second point in time by a predetermined time interval between the second point in time and the third point in time. A fourth point in time is established by the first node by the time counter when the acknowledgment is received. The transit time or the change in transit time is determined from the first point in time established by the time counter and from the established fourth point in time and from the predetermined time interval.

Circuit of a node and method for transit time measurement in a radio network

In an embodiment, a circuit includes a synchronizer configured to generate a trigger signal synchronized to a reference clock. A synthesizer is configured to synthesize a signal according to frequency control data in response to the trigger signal. A radio receiver is configured to process a carrier signal according to the synthesized signal. A phase measurement unit is configured to measure a first channel frequency response based on the processed carrier signal.

Frequency control data synchronization

A first node of a radio network initiates a mode for finding the range to a second node. The first node transmits to the second node, with the address of the second node, a range finding command, which switches the second node into the range finding mode and controls a sequence. The first node transmits in a transmission time window a first signal, which is received by the second node in an associated reception time window, a first phase value of the first signal being measured. The second node transmits in a transmission time window a second signal, which is received by the first node in an associated reception time window, a second phase value of the second signal being measured. The first frequency is changed by a frequency difference and the second frequency is changed by the frequency difference in a subsequent time window of the sequence.

Circuit, system and method for communication between two nodes of a radio network

In one embodiment, a method includes receiving a radio frequency (RF) signal; synchronizing the received RF signal with a preamble to determine a time base; determining a first energy value of the received RF signal by averaging received signal strength indication (RSSI) values of the received RF signal over a first period of time; determining a second energy value of the received RF signal over a second period of time; determining a difference value between the first energy value and the second energy value; comparing the difference value with a predetermined energy threshold value; determining a quality value of the received RF signal; comparing the quality value of the received RF signal with a predetermined quality threshold value; and, if the difference value exceeds the predetermined energy threshold value or the quality value is below the predetermined quality threshold value, then erasing the time base.

Receiver and method for the reception of a node by a receiver in a wireless network

In certain embodiments, a device includes a first filter. The first filter is operable to produce at least one correlation result by at least correlating an input signal sequence with a link sequence. The first filter includes a delay element. The device also includes a second filter sharing the delay element of the first filter.

Correlation device

A method includes transmitting, by a first node, a first carrier signal and receiving, from a second node, which receives the first carrier signal, a second carrier signal. The first node measures first and second values of a first phase, the first value assigned to a first frequency of the second carrier signal and the second value assigned to a second frequency of the second carrier signal. The first and second frequencies have a frequency difference. A third value of a second phase is assigned to a third frequency of the first carrier signal, and a fourth value of the second phase is assigned to a fourth frequency of the first carrier signal. The third and fourth frequencies have the frequency difference. A distance between the first and second nodes is determined from the frequency difference from the first and second values and from the third and fourth values.

A receiver and method for operating a receiver, in particular of a radio network, is provided, whereby the receiver includes circuit blocks in a receive path for detecting a preamble of a received signal, and a controller for controlling a receive mode. Whereby at least some of the circuit blocks are designed to be capable of being turned on for a turn-on duration and turned off for a turn-off duration. Whereby, the controller is configured to alternately turn on at least some of the circuit blocks for the turn-on duration and off for the turn-off duration during the receive mode, wherein the turn-off duration is shorter than the preamble. Whereby, the controller is configured to compare a first measured value measured in the receive path to a first threshold, and the controller is configured to change the turn-on duration and/or the turn-off duration on the basis of a result of the comparison with the first threshold, and whereby the controller is configured to compare a second measured value to a second threshold in order to detect a valid signal of the preamble and, on the basis of a result of the comparison with the second threshold, to terminate the turn-off and to drive the portion of the circuit blocks into a turned-on state for a synchronization by means of the preamble.
