A system and method for enhancing service over a high-speed downlink packet access (HSDPA) service in a cellular communication network includes informing a UE of the cells in an HSDPA active subset of cells. The US makes a measurement of the cells and selects a best cell for switching. The UE determines whether the best cell is an intra-node B cell or inter-node B cell with the serving cell from the network. If the best cell is an intra-node B cell, the UE signals the node B of the best cell, the node B switches to the best cell directly and UE receives the data from the target cell directly, and then Node B reports the switch to a radio network controller (RNC) that completes the final switching to the best cell by the RNC. If the best cell is an inter-node B cell, the UE signals the RNC of the best cell directly, whereupon the RNC sends the UE an acknowledgment without waiting for the completeness of the network configurations. The RNC re-routes data to the best cell, and the UE switches to the best cell after receiving the acknowledgment.

Mobility enhancement for real time service over high speed downlink packet access (HSDPA)

The present invention is for transmitting facsimile data over a wireless interface in a manner that minimizes the occurrence of time outs caused by wireless interface data corruption. Facsimile data to be transmitted over a wireless interface is collected and then transmitted using a wireless error detecting and correcting protocol ( ). The facsimile data is re-transmitted if the data transmission is unsuccessful until the transmitting of the facsimile data is successful. Highly correlated lines in the collected facsimile data are identified if delays caused by the re-transmitting of the collected facsimile data reach a predetermined limit, and certain ones of the highly correlated lines that have a minimal impact on received facsimile data are then deleted to prevent a facsimile protocol time out ( ).

Method of minimizing facsimile image corruption in CDMA systems

The remote unit ( ) maintains a count of inserted blank scan lines generated by the remote unit ( ) and uses this to maintain a fixed number of scan lines per page during facsimile transmission. More particularly, in the preferred embodiment of the present invention the remote unit ( ) maintains a fixed number of lines per page by deleting scan lines comprising a predetermined set of characters from the actual facsimile transmitted, until the number of scan lines deleted from the facsimile is equal to the number of blank scan lines generated by the remote unit ( ).

A method and device for enabling writes to a memory unit. The memory write device, such as a microprocessor (11), must provide a predetermined sequence of addresses to an address decoding unit (13), which then passes along the decoded addresses to a memory write enable unit (14). If the correct sequence, and only the correct sequence, is so provided, the memory write enable unit (14) will provide an enable signal (16) to the memory (12), thereby allowing the microprocessor (11) to write to the memory (12). A timer (26) can be utilized to limit the enable window.

A telephone interconnect system for a two-way radio communications system is disclosed. A telephone patch interconnect unit accepts dialed digits from a telephone line, encodes them into a data packet, and couples the data packet to a fixed transceiver for transmission to remote units. A remote unit with a digit sequence identification matching the received and decoded dialed digit activates an alert. A remote unit may generate and store digits corresponding to a desired telephone number. The digits are subsequently encoded into a data packet and transmitted to the telephone patch interconnect unit. The interconnect unit accepts, acknowledges and decodes the data packet and couples the resulting digits to the telephone line.
