A crane for use on an offshore vessel is provided with a boom restrainer, wherein the boom restrainer is a hydro-pneumatic boom restrainer, for reducing upward pivoting of the boom, when the boom is in the top zone, wherein the boom restrainer includes: multiple hydraulic cylinders, each having a hydraulic circuit and a cylinder rod with a cylinder head, wherein the cylinders are mounted on the crane structure with the cylinder heads directed towards the boom of the crane, preferably are mounted on a stay of the crane structure, a catcher for each hydraulic cylinder, wherein each catcher is mounted on the boom and is configured for receiving the cylinder head of the corresponding hydraulic cylinder, and to lock the cylinder head, preferably pivotable locks the cylinder head, relative to the boom, when the boom pivots upwards in the top zone; a gas buffer for each hydraulic cylinder, wherein each gas buffer is mounted to the corresponding hydraulic cylinder, and is connected to the hydraulic circuit of the corresponding hydraulic cylinder via a medium separator, wherein the gas buffer forces the hydraulic cylinder in an extended position, and wherein the volume ratio between the hydraulic cylinder and the gas buffer is such that the hydraulic cylinder acts as a progressive spring, e.g. the gas buffers each have a size in the range of 1000-1400 litre, for example 1200 litre and the hydraulic cylinders each have a size in the range of 800-1000 litre, for example 900 litre, and preferably the ratio between the volume of the gas buffer and the volume of the associated hydraulic cylinder is 4:3.

Heavy lift crane

A pile driving method for driving a pile, e.g. a hollow and open ended pile, e.g. a large diameter pile having an outer diameter of at least 5 meters, e.g. a monopile of an offshore wind turbine, into the soil, e.g. into the seabed. Use is made of a pile driving system which comprises a drive head member that is configured to engage the pile, and a solid mass drop weight assembly comprising a support structure and comprising solid drop weight elements supported by said support structure, preferably solid steel drop weight elements being composed of steel elements, e.g. stackable steel elements, which drop weight elements have a total mass of at least 100 tonnes, e.g. more than 500 tonnes. e.g. more than 1000 tonnes, e.g. more than 2000 tonnes, which drop weight assembly is vertically mobile relative to, e.g. above, the drive head member. Further use is made of a lift system that is configured to bring the drop weight assembly into an initial height position relative to the drive head, and a quick release system adapted to effect quick release of the lift system.

Pile driving methods and systems for driving a pile

A deepwater hoisting system includes a synthetic fibre rope winch assembly including a motor driven first winch and a length of synthetic fibre rope driven by said first winch. The synthetic fibre rope has an end remote from the first winch. The system further includes a steel wire winch assembly including a motor driven second winch and a length of steel wire driven by said second winch. The steel wire has an end remote from the second winch. At least the second winch is an active heave compensation motor driven winch. The system further includes a lifting block having a lifting block sheave, through which the synthetic fibre rope is run. The end of the synthetic fibre rope is connected to the end of the steel wire, so that the lifting block is suspended in a double-fall arrangement.

Deepwater hoisting system and method

A marine pipeline installation tensioner comprising a tensioner frame and multiple track units mounted in said frame, wherein each track unit includes an endless track, a chassis, support rollers or other bearing means mounted therein for the endless track, and one more track drive/brake members for effecting drive and/or braking motion of the track, and wherein each track unit is arranged mobile within the associated frame. Each track unit is arranged mobile within the associated frame by a parallel linkage bar system with parallel linkage bars between the chassis of the track unit and the frame of the tensioner.

Marine pipeline installation tensioner

A marine pipelaying vessel with a pipeline stinger connected to said vessel, preferably pivotable, and forming a downwardly directed support for pipeline to be laid. The vessel further includes a stinger suspension assembly between the stinger and the vessel from which the stinger is suspended at least during operation, preferably the stinger suspension assembly allowing to lower and raise said stinger. The stinger suspension assembly includes a sacrificial stinger impact absorber which is adapted to absorb impact energy resulting from a violent stinger motion, e.g. induced by a freak wave. Preferably, the impact absorber forms an elongatable structure, e.g. a telescopic structure, which is elongated under impact energy absorption.
