Integrated analysis process and device for characterization of hydrocarbons in a petroleum product, in distillation fractions, by simulated distillation. The hydrocarbons of a petroleum sample are characterized without fractional distillation by coupling gas chromatography (GC) with liquid chromatography (LC) techniques. GC simulated distillation (SD) is carried out. The separation column is preceded by a precolumn of the same nature but shorter. At the outlet of the main column, retention means (CT, AC) allow to collect and to store one or more light fractions that are sent each to a GC analytical column (,) allowing detailed analysis of the hydrocarbons, and one or more middle fractions. The remaining heavy fraction is collected at the precolumn outlet. The middle and heavy fractions are characterized by a combined LC-GC chromatography unit. Several interfaces allowing GC-GC-LC-GC coupling are described. The process and device can be applied for characterization of reservoir fluids or of refining process effluents for example.

Integrated analysis process and device for hydrocarbon characterization by distillation simulation

A filler and floatability material is an extruded admixture of a thermoplastic resin material and a mineral or organic load lightening material that resists against hydrostatic pressure. The admixture contains 50 to 80% by volume of a polyolefin or a polydiolefin homo- or copolymer as the thermoplastic resin material and 50 to 20% by volume of hollow microspheres as the load lightening material that resists against hydrostatic pressure. The filler and floatability material displays a density ranging from 0.65 to 0.85, elasticity which is greater than 10% distortion, uniaxial compression strength equal to at least 60 bar and water absorption under 50 bar pressure which is lower than 5% by weight.

Disclosed is a gas separation membrane, comprising a film with a thickness ranging from 0.05.10.sup.-6 to 20.10.sup.-6 m, at least 90% by mole of which is at least one aromatic polyimide or copolyimide, the recurrent unit of which corresponds to the following formula (I): ##STR1## where A represents a tetravalent aromatic radical at least 50% by mole of which are represented by the following formula (II): ##STR2## and B represents a bivalent aromatic radical or a mixture of bivalent aromatic radicals.

This invention concerns a new filler and floatability material as well as its manufacturing process. For instance, this new material can be used as a filler and floatability material (A) which separates tubes or cables (1,2) in a tubular unit that includes an external sheath (B) surrounding a harness of tubes or cables (1,2). In view of its make-up this material also participates in the thermal insulation of said tubes. The invention concerns also such tubular units which incorporate the new material.

A mixture of at least two constituents A and B is submitted to selective separation across a selective membrane. The membrane comprises an active layer comprising particles of a selective solid (5) dispersed in a continuous non-porous and non-elastomeric polymer phase (4) and a porous support (6). The thickness of the active layer is less than 100 micrometers, advantageously less than 20 micrometers.
