The fluid impermeable barrier also defines an opening extending longitudinally along the fluid impermeable barrier and configured to be positioned adjacent to a female urethra.

Fluid collection devices including a base securement area, and related systems and methods

An intermittent catheter package including a plurality of components and a catheterization tray configured to facilitate a catheterization procedure. Disclosed is an automated weight based fluid output monitoring system that can include a hanger having a securement ball defining a spherical surface and configured to engage a socket. The securement ball can include a sensor array configured to detect a change in pressure between the securement ball and the socket as well as a direction of force relative to a transverse axis of the socket. The hanger can further include a hook configured to be coupled to a fluid collection bag of a fluid drainage system. The hanger can further include a console having one or more processors, non-transitory storage medium, an energy source and a one or more logic modules configured to determine a change in fluid volume of the collection bag over time and an off-axis loading of the fluid collecting bag relative to the transverse axis.

Automated weight based fluid output monitoring system

A drainage system comprising: (a) a catheter including a sensor; (b) a first valve in fluid communication with an interior of the catheter; (c) a controller communicatively coupled to the sensor, the controller including logic configured to direct at least one of opening and closing of the first valve using at least one of an elapsed time and a presence of a predetermined condition; and, (d) a venturi pump in fluid communication with the interior of the catheter.

Drainage system and method

An example fluid collection assembly includes a fluid impermeable barrier having a proximal surface and a distal surface opposite the proximal surface. The proximal surface defines an opening. The fluid collection assembly also includes at least one inflation device. The inflation device includes a bladder. The bladder may be adjacent to the distal surface of the fluid impermeable barrier or between a conduit disposed in the chamber and the distal surface. The bladder is configured to switch between a first state and at least a second state. A volume of the bladder is greater when the bladder is the second state than when the bladder is in the first state. Switching the bladder between the first and second states changes a curvature of the at least a portion of the fluid collection assembly.

Fluid collection assemblies including at least one inflation device

Disclosed herein are systems and methods directed to an assisted fluid drainage system including one or more ejector vacuum pumps disposed in-line with the drainage tube. The one or more pumps can use a venturi effect vacuum pump to draw a fluid in and urge the fluid through the drainage tube to prevent the formation of dependent loops. Dependent loops can form within fluid drainage tubes when slack portions of tube create a positive incline. These dependent loops trap fluid and can create a retrograde flow, leading to various complications such as catheter associated urinary tract infections ('CAUTI'). Advantageously, the pumps can operate while the drainage lumen remains in fluid communication with the catheter. As such the pumps can operate continuously to prevent dependent loops from establishing.

Assisted fluid drainage system

Embodiments disclosed herein are directed to fluid collection assemblies that include at least one inflation device, methods for using the same, and systems including the same. An example fluid collection assembly includes a fluid impermeable barrier defining at least one opening, a chamber, and at least one fluid outlet. The fluid collection assembly also includes at least one porous material disposed in the chamber. The fluid collection assembly further includes at least one inflation device. The inflation device includes at least one bladder having one or more walls defining an interior region. The inflation device also includes at least one valve configured to selectively permit flow of at least one inflation fluid into and out of the interior region to switch the at least one bladder between a first state and a second state.

Fluid collection assemblies including at least one inflation device and methods and systems of using the same

Embodiments disclosed herein are directed to fluid collection systems and methods of using the same. An example fluid collection system includes a fluid collection assembly and at least one tensioning element (e.g., wire). The fluid collection assembly includes a fluid impermeable barrier that defines at least a chamber and at least one porous material disposed in the chamber. The tensioning element of the fluid collection system is configured to switch from a relaxed state and a tensioned state. The tensioning element is in the relaxed state when substantially no external tensile force is applied thereto and the tensioned state when an external tensile force is applied thereto. The tensioning element is configured to change a curvature of at least a portion of the fluid collection assembly, for example, by switching the tensioning element between the relaxed state and the tensioned state.

Fluid collection systems including at least one tensioning element

In an embodiment, a fluid collection device includes a fluid impermeable barrier that at least partially defines a chamber. The fluid impermeable barrier also defines an opening extending therethrough that is configured to be positioned adjacent to a female urethra or have a male urethra positioned therethrough. The fluid collection device also includes a channel extending between an inlet and outlet thereof. The inlet is configured to be in fluid communication with a gas source and the outlet is configured to be in fluid communication with a fluid storage container. The outlet is positioned downstream from the inlet. The channel also defines at least one aperture or passageway therein that allows an interior of the channel to be in fluid communication with the rest of the chamber.

The second compartment is configured to hold the urine-drainage bag. The third compartment is configured to hold the sampling-port access device. Step-by-step instructions are incorporated into the catheterization tray to facilitate the catheterization procedure. Also disclosed are methods for the catheterization package.
