A method includes determining that data out of a peripheral device has been interrupted. In response, control signals are transmitted that cause power to not be supplied to the peripheral device and then cause power to be supplied to the peripheral device. If the peripheral device is determined to not be outputting data, whether data into the peripheral device has been restored is determined. If it is not, control signals are transmitted that cause power to not be supplied to a router and then cause power to be supplied to the router. If the router is determined to be outputting data, control signals are transmitted that cause power to not be supplied to a wireless access point that is coupled to the modem and then cause power to be supplied to the wireless access point. Whether the wireless access point is outputting data is determined.

Broadband watchdog

Various arrangements for communicating with a device utilizing an unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) are presented. A backend system may detect a triggering event associated with a device based upon data received via a first connection. In response to detecting the first triggering event, the UAV may receive a first data set and a location associated with the device from the backend system. The UAV may deploy to the received location. A second connection between the UAV and the device can be established at the received location. The UAV may transmit the first data set to the device via the second connection at the received location.

Unmanned aerial vehicle updater

Various arrangements for updating a device utilizing an unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) are presented. A backend system may detect a triggering event associated with a device based upon data received via a first connection. In response to detecting the first triggering event, the UAV may receive a first data set and a location associated with the device from the backend system. The UAV may deploy to the received location. A second connection between the UAV and the device can be established at the received location. The UAV may transmit the first data set to the device via the second connection at the received location.

A network watchdog and reset device determines that a signal into a modem device has been interrupted. In response to determining that the signal into the modem device has been restored, the device transmits control signals that cause power to the modem device to be cycled. In response to determining that the modem device is outputting data, the device transmits control signals that cause power to a router device to be cycled. In response to determining that the router device is outputting data, the device transmits control signals that cause power to a wireless access point device to be cycled. In response to determining that the wireless access point device is outputting data, the device transmits control signals that cause power to a peripheral device such as a security camera to be cycled.

Systems, methods, apparatus, and machine-readable media are provided to facilitate lighting device health management. Conditions of at least a portion of an electric light assembly may be monitored with a monitor adapted to be disposed in the electric light assembly. The electric light assembly may include an electric light source and a receptacle adapted to receive the electric light source. Based on the monitoring, data recordings corresponding to operations of the electric light assembly over a period of time may be stored. Reporting data may be created based on the stored data recordings. A communication may be wirelessly transmitted with the monitor toward a system controller that is remote from the electric light assembly. The communication may include the reporting data. The monitor may correspond to the electric light source or a receptacle adapted to receive the electric light source.

Systems and methods for facilitating lighting device health management

Various arrangements for providing a text-based message to a recipient as synthesized speech are provided. A home automation host server system may receive a text-based message addressed to a designated vocalization destination from an electronic address associated with a sender. The text-based message may be filtered to determine that the text-based message is eligible for output as synthesized speech. A home automation device linked with the designated vocalization destination may be identified. Data corresponding to the text-based message addressed to the designated vocalization destination may be transmitted to the home automation device. The home automation device may be caused to output at least a portion of the text-based message as synthesized speech.

Systems and methods for delivering text-based messaging via home automation devices

An outdoor messaging display for a home automation system can include an arrival detection device for detecting a visitor's arrival. The system can also include a display device attached near a door that is capable of displaying text to the visitor. The system can also include a home automation controller that can receive a notification from the arrival detection device indicating that a visitor has arrived or has been detected. The home automation controller can send an alert to a device of the resident indicating that the visitor has arrived or been detected. The home automation controller can receive a message from the resident and output the message to the output display for the visitor to read.

Outdoor messaging display for home automation/security systems

A secondary television receiver device includes one or more television tuners that can be integrated into a whole-home television receiving system. The secondary device that is enhanced with tuner capability registers the tuners with a primary receiver, which allocates tuners from available sources as needed. The tuned video stream may be directed to the primary television receiver for storage, trick play or other features prior to re-transmission to the ultimate viewing device. Alternatively, the received video stream may be directly rendered to a video display attached to the enhanced secondary receiver.

Multi-tuner device integration

Apparatus, systems, and methods are disclosed for the current mode of one or more remote control devices to be displayed or played as an audio message either continuously or at various opportune times on other devices such as a presentation device (e.g., a television set). In this way, a user is able to quickly see the current mode of their remote control while watching programming on the display to determine if the remote control mode needs to be changed to control a particular device on the premises. Remote control command mode information may be communicated from the remote control in a separate remote control message or within remote control commands generated by the remote control.

Apparatus, systems, and methods for notification of remote control device modes

Systems, devices and methods provide feedback about the quality of communication between a device and a remote control. A wireless signal is sent between a controlled device and the remote control. The quality of the signal can be measured and reported to a user, installer, troubleshooter, customer service agent or other person in any manner. Quality may be determined based upon the strength of the received signal as well as the amount of noise that is present. The quality measurements provide feedback that allows a user, installer, customer service representative or other person to change the positions of the device or the remote control, or to take other actions based upon the quality of the wireless signal that is received.

Systems, methods and devices for detecting infrared noise at a remote control

Remote control signal detection systems and methods are operable to compensate detected infrared energy to identify an infrared energy communication signal emitted by a remote control. An exemplary embodiment detects first infrared energy, wherein the infrared energy communication signal is absent in the first infrared energy; determines compensation based on the first infrared energy; detects second infrared energy, wherein the infrared energy communication signal is present in the second infrared energy; and compensates the second infrared energy based on the determined compensation.
