Method and apparatus are disclosed for coordinating multiple vehicle diagnostic testers. An example vehicle includes an off-board diagnostic tester port, an in-vehicle diagnostic (IVD) tester, and a gateway module. The gateway module is configured to enable communication with the IVD tester, determine that a diagnostic tool is coupled to the off-board diagnostic tester port for greater than a threshold number of ignition cycles, and responsively prevent communication with the off-board diagnostic tester port.

Systems and methods for vehicle diagnostic tester coordination

Method and apparatus are disclosed for coordinating multiple vehicle diagnostic testers. An example vehicle includes communication buses, an electronic control unit (ECU) coupled to one of the communication buses, and a gateway module. The a gateway module is configured to receive a request for communication with the ECU from a first in-vehicle diagnostic (IVD) tester, and responsively prevent communication with a second IVD tester while facilitating communication between the first IVD tester and the ECU.

A vehicle system includes a gateway including a database and configured to transfer messages between a plurality of controllers, each controller connected to one of a plurality of nodes, the gateway further configured to broadcast, to all the nodes, a request message received from a first controller for receipt by a second controller, receive, from a first node, a response message from the second controller for receipt by the first controller, and link, in the database, the first node and the second controller.

Smart routing for on-vehicle telematics protocol

A system includes a processor configured to route a telematics message to all networks not pre-identified as backbone networks in response to a directionality bit, included in a CAN identifier, indicating non-backbone routing. The processor is also configured to route the telematics message to any pre-identified backbone networks in response to the directionality bit indicating backbone routing.

Method and apparatus for vehicle message routing

A vehicle includes a gateway controller configured to interface a diagnostic port to a vehicle communication network. In response to a perimeter alarm system being in an armed state, transfer of messages from the diagnostic port to the vehicle communication network is inhibited. A change session diagnostic request received from the diagnostic port is transferred to the vehicle communication network in response to vehicle speed being less than a threshold and an ignition switch begin in a run position. The transfer of the change session diagnostic request is otherwise inhibited unless intended for a module designated for reprogramming keys.

Vehicle network communication protection

A novel book stand arrangement capable of sustaining common reading material above the surface of water. An angled shelf capable of accommodating books, magazines, and folded newsprint is positioned at a height and angle optimal for users lounging and submersed within pools, spas, hot tubs, indoor jet tubs, or conventional residential bathtubs. The shelf is attached to a horizontal buoyant base and angled in such a way so that the weight of the reading material distributes the displacement evenly onto the base to promote stability and balance. The rear support arm may detach from the base and swivel flush onto the back of the shelf. The shelf may then swivel down and rest on the base to fold the unit flat for storage and transport. A clear plastic retainer is provided to hold bound material like paperbacks and hard/soft cover books in place against the shelf. The retainer slides down the front of the shelf to provide a transparent cavity for which the bound material can reside. While placed in this cavity they can remain open and stable on the shelf without the aid of the user. A clip light is also provided to aid users who wish to read in dimly light conditions. The clip light attaches on the upper edge of the shelf via a spring tension lever. The light is emitted from the end of a swivel arm capable of being positioned for maximum illumination of material. The spring tension lever may also serve as a page retainer for some materials to maintain stability and position.

Floating bookstand

An improved cargo carrying arrangement particularly adapted to carry a sailboard and related equipment. A horizontal cargo bed is vertically supported above the user's head. The vertical supports are attached to curved shoulder supports. Padding is provided on the top of the cargo bed and under the shoulder supports. Handles are mounted on the front vertical supports within reach of the user to be used to steady the load. A strap is provided to tie the cargo to the bed. The vertical supports may be hinged to the bed to allow the arrangement to be folded for storage.
