A medical device is configured to generate an acceleration signal and a temperature signal. The device is configured to determine an activity metric from the acceleration signal that is representative of patient physical activity. In response to determining that the activity metric is equal to or greater than a previously determined activity metric, the device is configured to adjust a target cardiac pacing rate based at least on a temperature change determined from the temperature signal. The device may include a pulse generator for generating cardiac pacing pulses based on the target cardiac pacing rate.

An implantable medical device system receives a cardiac electrical signal produced by a patient's heart and comprising atrial P-waves and delivers a His bundle pacing pulse to the patient's heart via a His pacing electrode vector. The system determines a timing of a sensed atrial P-wave relative to the His bundle pacing pulse and determines a type of capture of the His bundle pacing pulse in response to the determined timing of the atrial P-wave.

Techniques for facilitating telemetry between a medical device and an external device are provided. In one example, a medical device includes a classification component and a communication component. The classification component is configured to determine a classification for data generated by the medical device. The classification component is also configured to determine an urgency level for an advertising data packet based on the classification for the data. The communication component is also configured to broadcast the advertising data packet for the medical device at a defined beaconing rate based on the urgency level for the advertising data packet.

A system, such as an IMD system, includes a tissue conductance communication (TCC) transmitter configured to generate a beacon signal by generating a carrier signal and modulating a first property of the carrier signal according to a first type of modulation. The TCC transmitter is configured to generate a data signal subsequent to the beacon signal by generating the carrier signal and modulating a second property of the carrier signal different than the first property according to a second type of modulation different than the first type of modulation.

Implantable medical device and method for determining His bundle pacing capture

An IMD system receives a near field His bundle electrical signal produced by a patient's heart via a first sensing electrode vector and a far field cardiac electrical signal via a second sensing electrode vector different than the first sensing electrode vector. The IMD system generates His bundle pacing pulses delivered to the patient's heart via a His pacing electrode vector and determines a type of cardiac capture evoked by a His bundle pacing pulse.

An implantable rate responsive pacemaker includes a sensor module configured to produce an activity signal correlated to a metabolic demand of a patient and a posture signal correlated to patient posture. The pacemaker further includes a pulse generator configured to generate and deliver pacing pulses to a patient's heart via a pair of electrodes coupled to the pacemaker. A control module is coupled to the pulse generator and the sensor module and is configured to determine a sensor indicated pacing rate from the activity signal, compare the posture signal to verification criteria for confirming an exercising posture of the patient, and withhold an adjustment of a pacing rate to the sensor indicated pacing rate responsive to the verification criteria not being met.

A method and apparatus for determining estimated remaining longevity for an implantable stimulator. The device employs pre-calculated numbers of days for various combinations conditions of device usage parameters to determine remaining device longevity based upon identified actual conditions of device usage and employs the determined longevity to change longevity indicator states in the device. While between longevity state changes, the device the identified conditions of device usage and adjusts the determined longevity if the conditions of use change significantly. The indicator states may correspond to one or more of Recommended Replacement Time (RRT), Elective Replacement Indicator (ERI) or End of Service (EOS).

Method and apparatus for determining longevity

Techniques for determining an attachment stability of leadless pacing device (LPD) implanted within a patient are described. For example, the LPD may detect one or more stability metrics from one or more electrodes of the LPD and/or an activity sensor within the LPD. Based on one or more of these stability metrics, e.g., a mechanical motion of the LPD, a stability module within the LPD may determine the attachment stability of the LPD within the patient. If the attachment stability is insufficient to provide efficacious therapy or indicates at least partial dislodgement of the LPD from tissue, the LPD may wirelessly transmit stability information to an external device. In some examples, the LPD may be implanted within a chamber of the heart.
