A composite laminate system for indoor and outdoor applications, comprising a wood layer comprised of a thin plank or veneer. An aqueous, penetrating primer is applied in a first coating to all surfaces of the wood layer, and the primer is designed to prevent and resist decay from bio attack, insects and other intrinsic bacteria, featuring antibacterial and mold inhibiting properties, including a UV inhibitor. A first aqueous nano urethane acrylic coating is applied on all surfaces of the wood layer on top of the primer coating. At least a second aqueous nano urethane acrylic coating is applied to a top surface of the wood layer on top of the first aqueous nano urethane acrylic coating. A polyvinyl chloride (PVC) foam sheeting layer is glued to the wood layer with coatings using a resin adhesive glue layer interposed between the PVC foam sheeting and the wood layer.

A wood product is made from treating wood with two solutions, in series, including a penetrating solution and a topcoat composition. The penetrating solution is made up of boric acid, a metallocene catalyst, a free radical initiator, a first film-forming polymer and an adhesion promoter. The topcoat includes a second continuous film-forming polymer. Application of the penetrating solution to the wood gets the solution into the wood to cross-link boric acid with cellulose fibers, then the topcoat forms the continuous film. The topcoat seals in the penetrating solution so that it does not leach out during subsequent exposure to water and weather, allowing soluble salts such as borax to migrate and infiltrate deeper into the wood. Microbiological growth is prevented by several mechanisms.

A composition containing reclaimed vulcanized rubber particles and capable of being recycled by melting is disclosed. A thermoplastic substrate is first melted, and an acid or base deflocculant and emulsifier for the rubber particles is added and mixed. The rubber particles are then added and heated with the substrate under high shear forces to redo the size of the particles, cause them to swell, and to emulsify the surface. The acid or base deflocculant is then neutralized to its isoelectric point, with the surfaces of the altered rubber particles in phase with the thermoplastic substrate.

A weatherproof roofing membrane, and method for constructing the same, comprises a plurality of layers of extensible reinforcing fabric bonded together with an elastomeric polymer, at least the bottom layer, but not the top layer, of the layers of fabric being spot anchored to the roof to form a continuous weatherproof membrane that is durable, light weight, flexible and fire retardant, and has a high degree of solar reflectivity.
