An apparatus to prevent bio-filming during the delivery of photonic energy to a culture or set of organisms in a fluid culture medium, the device including a culture medium, a container configured to house the culture medium, and an assembly to generate and deliver a liquid energy transfer medium between the culture medium and the photonic device, the assembly including one or more apertures sized and shaped to form one or more liquid replenishing lenses and a fluid-light unit in the container to house the photonic device and the liquid energy transfer medium, the photonic device is at least one from among a photoreceptor, a photoemitter, or a combination of the photoreceptor and the photoemitter, and further including a pump coupled to the fluid-light unit, the assembly is configured to convey the photonic energy between the photonic device and the culture medium through the liquid energy transfer medium.

Method for the effective delivery of photonic energy to cultures in a fluid medium

A method of preventing bio-filming during the delivery of photonic energy to a culture or set of organisms in a fluid culture medium, the method including introducing a fluid energy-transfer medium into the fluid culture medium through an interface and distributing light into the fluid energy-transfer medium as it is introduced into the fluid culture medium.

A detection method and apparatus that includes a controller and a plurality of remote sensor units, each containing sensor elements, connected to the controller to achieve custom detection profiles and resolutions that are optimized for a given application by alteration of scanning sequences used by the controller, variation of scanning frequencies, adjustment in response times, and utilization of multi-modal sensing methods.

A low air warning system for scuba divers in which a pressure switch and an electromagnetic transmitter are positioned at or near the high pressure air supply tank of the scuba diver and a corresponding electromagnetic receiver is positioned on the diver's mask. A plenum extending from the receiver, provides a pair of LED light indicators of two different colors which also oscillate at different frequencies, depending upon the condition of the pressure switch in response to the supply of air in the diver's air supply tank. A unique electromagnetic transmission and receiving system is disclosed which relies upon magnetic induction between a high Q transmitting antenna and a high Q receiving antenna in the form of LC tank circuits. One of the novelties of the present invention is the use of frequency modulation and the use of distinct modulating tone frequencies which produce one or the other of two signals to activate one or the other of two LEDs of different colors and at different activation frequencies. Changes in both the color and frequency of the flashing light virtually assure that the diver cannot ignore a change in the status of his air supply when it has been reduced sufficiently to fall below a threshold that is sensed by a pressure attached to a valve on the tank.
