Systems and methods relate generally to exposure correction of an image transparency. In an example method thereof, an adaptable filter having an adjustable transparency panel and a microcontroller is obtained. The image transparency is backlit to obtain first analog image information by the adaptable filter. An exposure level associated with the first analog image information is sensed. A transparency level of the adjustable transparency panel is adjusted responsive to the sensed exposure level. Second analog image information is obtained from the adjustable transparency panel provided to a sensor array. The second analog image information is the first analog image information with the adjusted transparency level.

A system and process provide an improvement to monitoring over-heating of components in an apparatus. Embodiments include a thermal sensor which may be coupled with a filter. A controller may store over-heat values for components in the apparatus. In response to a sensor signal detecting an over-heat threshold exceeded, the controller may trigger an alert. Detection of an over-heating event may trigger shutdown of the component or the entire device or system before damage occurs or escalates to other components. In some embodiments, the range of detection by sensors monitoring the same component may be extended by coupling each sensor with a different filter so that a wider range of heat signatures are available. Aspects of the method may select which sensor/filter combination has a best range of detection based on the number of pixels registering over or under a threshold value.

A system, method, and apparatus provide brightness enhancement for digital displays. The digital display of an electronic apparatus may be augmented with an E-Ink based display module. Embodiments may replicate the content of the digital display shown on the E-Ink module display. The content is shown in a high contrast output that is readable even though the ambient light intensity may overwhelm the readability of the original digital display. Some embodiments include a clock which may trigger automatic operation of the E-Ink module. Some embodiments may include a transparent E-Ink module which may show replicated content obscuring the view an underlying digital display or which may remain transparent when the digital display is readable under the current light.

Embodiments may include a plurality of lights. Each light is positioned respectively in a predetermined location in the printing apparatus, which may comprise known locations for paper jams to occur. Embodiments may also include a voice recognition module and a controller module connected to the plurality of lights. The controller module may be configured to: receive, from the voice recognition module, a user generated message requesting identification of the location of the paper jam; identify which of the predetermined locations has the paper jam; and activate a selected one of the plurality of lights, wherein the selected one of the plurality of lights is positioned to illuminate the predetermined location with the paper jam.

A system provides verification of image content in software modules within a system of software under development. Embodiments retrieve image data from a software module written in a native or first computer program type or language. The retrieved image data may be evaluated so that a conversion image space is prepared as a new coordinate space that will be used to render the image data into an image object outside of the native computer program type or language. In an exemplary embodiment, a bit-per-pixel value may be applied to the image data during conversion to a second computer program format/language. The converted image data may then be rendered into an image object in the new coordinate space according to the new readable format. The rendered image object may then be displayed to provide convenient and quick visual verification of the accuracy of the unrendered image data content.

Methods and apparatus for filtering input data objects are provided. A computing device can receive an input data object to be filtered; e.g., compressed/decompressed, decrypted/encrypted, bit converted. The computing device can determine whether the input data object has been previously filtered. After determining that the input data object has been previously filtered, the computing device can: determine a previously filtered data size for the input data object, allocate a memory buffer to store a filtered version of the input data object based on the previously filtered data size, and filter the input data object using the memory buffer. The computing device can generate an output based on the filtered data object.

The first format can specify a repeat count for a corresponding line of pixels. The computing device can convert the image data from the first format to a second format. The conversion can include: for a designated input line, determining whether the repeat count for the designated input line is greater than one; and after determining that the repeat count is greater than one: generating a designated output line encoded in the second run-length encoded format that corresponds to the designated input line, and duplicating the designated output line a number of times based on the repeat count. Methods and apparatus for image conversion are provided. A computing device can receive image data having line(s) of pixels encoded using a first format. The first format can specify a repeat count for a corresponding line of pixels. The computing device can convert the image data from the first format to a second format. The conversion can include: for a designated input line, determining whether the repeat count for the designated input line is greater than one; and after determining that the repeat count is greater than one: decompressing the designated input line into a decompressed line, duplicating the decompressed line a number of times based on the repeat count, and generating designated output line(s) of image data encoded in the second format that correspond to the duplicated decompressed lines of image data. The computing device can provide an output comprising the image data encoded in the second format.

A method for determining a color profile from received raster data and printing the raster data is provided. Color profiles provide a mapping from a color space of the raster data to a color space of the printer, which typically uses CMYK toner or ink. A text color profile may be employed to print crisper text, or a photo color profile may be employed to produce better images. The raster data includes a plurality of raster scan lines containing digital pixel values. The method includes determining a number of sequentially repeated digital pixel values and a number of sequentially non-repeated digital pixel values for the plurality of raster scan lines. A color profile is selected based on a determination between the repeated and non-repeated digital pixel values. An example image forming apparatus that may carry out the method is also provided.
