A convertible guard device for a fire heating appliance. The guard device having a plurality of panels and a base portion, wherein the panels may be configured to be arranged in a guard configuration and a tabletop configuration. The base portion may define a fire area and have an upper surface configured to receive the panels arranged in the guard configuration, and an inner surface having a ledge extending therefrom, the ledge configured to receive a perimeter edge of the panels when the panels are arranged in the tabletop configuration.

An electric cooking assembly includes a main body portion that defines a cooking area. First and second cooking surfaces are contained within the cooking area. A first electric heating element arranged to provide heat to at least a portion of the first cooking surface, and a second electric heating element is arranged to heat at least a portion of the second cooking surface. The main body portion may include first and second hood members. The first hood member defines the cooking area and the second hood member is positioned at least partially within the cooking area and configured to decrease heat lost from the cooking assembly during preparation of food products in the cooking area. The second hood member is configured for adjustment between an open position providing access to the cooking surface and a closed position covering at least a portion of the cooking surface.

A cooking assembly for preparing food products having multiple cooking modalities is disclosed. In one embodiment of the disclosure, the cooking assembly can comprise a main body portion defining a cooking area and an adjustable burner assembly configured to provide heat to at least a portion of the cooking area. The adjustable burner assembly being positionable between a first cooking modality and a second cooking modality. The first cooking modality can provide a source of indirect heating to at least a portion of the cooking area. Conversely, the second cooking modality can provide a source of direct heating to at least a portion of the cooking area.

A rust proof indoor-outdoor convertible fireplace is provided with an open side having access into the combustion chamber box. The combustion chamber box is provided with an inclined bottom panel to drain water from rain and snow products from said combustion box. Support structures are provided on or above said inclined bottom panel for supporting a ceramic floor in a horizontal plane juxtaposed and above said inclined bottom panel. The inclined bottom panel is provided with a hole or aperture and forms the top panel of a water tight box that is used to house a gas control valve and electrical controls when the outdoor fireplace is converted from wood burning to a gas burning fireplace.

A novel wood/gas burning fireplace is provided with an open box shaped outer housing. A combustion chamber is mounted inside said housing having a plurality panels that are juxtaposed the panels of the outer housing so as to provide an open wall at the bottom, back and top of the fireplace which serve as a heat exchanger. An insulating panel is mounted in the top wall of the heat exchanger dividing the top wall into two separate passageways. The air passageway below the insulating panel comprises a part of a heat exchanger for heating room air of the space being heated. The air passageway above the insulating panel forms a plenum chamber with apertures in the outer housing panel(s) for conducting room air into the plenum chamber. A stack opening aperture in the top panel of the outer housing conducts cooling air into a coaxial exhaust stack for cooling the top panel as well as the exhaust stack pipe.
