A Phase Locked Loop (PLL) that has a substantially constant gain over a wide frequency range. The frequency range over which the PLL operates is divided into a number of frequency sub-ranges. The circuit includes a mechanism for adjusting the loop gain profile as the PLL moves from one frequency sub-range to another. When the PLL switches to a new frequency sub-range, the loop gain profile is adjusted to a pre-established value. Changes of frequency within each sub-range are then accomplished with the loop gain varying within a pre-established range.

Phase locked loop operable over a wide frequency range

A crystal oscillator circuit which does not produce runt pulses when the oscillator is turned on or off. The circuit includes a crystal oscillator, an integrator which integrates the energy in a plurality of pulses, a threshold circuit which is active when the output of the integrator reaches a pre-specified threshold and gating circuits which gate the output of the crystal oscillator to the output terminal only when the threshold circuit has reached the specified threshold.

Circuit and method to eliminate startup and shutoff runt pulses from crystal oscillators

Embodiments of the present invention provide a method of centering an operating band of a voltage controlled oscillator around a desired operating frequency. In one embodiment, an adjustable feedback divider provides for driving an output signal to the top and bottom of the operating band. An adjustable period divider and counter provide a plurality of count values for use in determining a mid-point of the operating band. A capacitance bank provides for selectively adjusting a capacitance of the voltage controlled oscillator, thereby adjusting the operating band.

Voltage controlled oscillator

A method for generating parameters for adjusting the frequency of a VCO. A desired carrier frequency may be based off the output of the VCO. The method determines parameters that are operable to adjust the frequency of the VCO, based on the channel number. The channel number may be input into combinatorial logic to determine the parameters. Offsets, which may be scaled, may be added to the channel number before determining the parameters, wherein the frequency of the VCO is further adjusted based on the offset(s). A first parameter may be operable to select a frequency scalar in a circuit with the VCO. A second parameter may be operable to generate a feedback signal for adjusting the frequency of the VCO.

Method and device for generating frequency adjustment parameters for a voltage controlled oscillator

A PC card with a retractable antenna for use in interfacing between a communications device and a wireless network includes an interface card portion and an antenna portion, the interface card portion having a first end, and an opposite second end, the first end having an electrical interface compatible with the communications device, the second end having an opening for slidably receiving the antenna portion, the interface card portion being dimensioned to be inserted into the PC card slot of the communications device, the antenna portion being in electrical communication with the interface card portion and dimensioned to fit inside the interface card portion, the antenna portion being accessible through the opening in the interface card portion by a user, the antenna portion being configured to extend out of the cavity and retract into the cavity of the interface card portion such that when the antenna portion is retracted into the cavity the antenna portion is substantially contained inside the interface card portion.
