The example systems, methods, and/or computer-readable media described herein help with design treatment plans for orthodontic treatments. Treatment templates reflecting a user's treatment preferences are expressed in a domain-specific treatment language and include treatment protocols. Orthodontic treatment plans are customized based on the treatment templates and a physical condition of the patient. Treatment appliances are fabricated based on the customized orthodontic treatment plans.

Systems and methods for treatment using domain-specific treatment protocols

Systems and methods for monitoring a dental patient's progress during treatment. A first teeth mask for a captured 2D image of teeth at a particular time during treatment and a second teeth mask for an expected 2D image of the teeth may be generated. The expected 2D image may be generated from an expected 3D model representing an expected configuration of the teeth at the particular time. The captured 2D image and the expected 2D image may be compared, with the first and second teeth masks aligned, to determine whether the teeth are within a threshold level of correspondence to the expected configuration. An indication as to whether the dental treatment is proceeding as expected based on whether the configuration of the teeth is within the threshold level of correspondence may be provided.

Methods and systems for taking images of a patient's teeth for tracking a progress of an orthodontic procedure. The methods and systems include a mobile device holder with one or more adjustable stops for providing a compressive force on a mobile device placed therein; a cheek retractor coupled to the mobile device holder; and a user interface on the mobile device indicating whether the mobile device holder is in a correct position relative to the patient's teeth as the mobile device holder is moved while the cheek retractor engages a cheek of the patient to expose the patient's teeth, while taking one or more visual images of the exposed teeth using a camera of the mobile device.

Methods for visualizing treatment outcomes are provided. In some embodiments, a method includes obtaining a first 2D image of a patient's teeth from a mobile device, and obtaining an arch model representing an outcome for the patient's teeth after orthodontic treatment. The method can include matching the patient's teeth in the first 2D image to corresponding teeth in the arch model, using a parametric model. The method can also include determining a target position for the patient's teeth, based on a position of the matched corresponding teeth in the arch model. The method can further include generating a second 2D image depicting the patient's teeth in the target position.

The disclosed systems and methods for anonymizing clinical data may include receiving representation data corresponding to a body part. The representation data may include a clinically relevant region and an anonymization region. The method may include extracting, from the representation data, clinical representation data corresponding to the clinically relevant region of the representation data and generating artificial representation data corresponding to the anonymization region of the representation data. The method may further include creating, based at least on the clinical representation data and the artificial representation data, anonymized representation data that substantially preserves the clinically relevant region. The processing deice receives image data of a dental arch from the image capture device and processes the image data using a plurality of detection rules, where each detection rule detects one or more dental conditions. The processing device determines a dental condition for the dental arch based on the processing, determines a position of an area of interest on the dental arch, wherein the area of interest is associated with the dental condition, generates a visual overlay comprising an indication of the dental condition at the position of the area of interest, and outputs the visual overlay to the AR display, wherein the visual overlay is superimposed over a view of the dental arch on the AR display at the position of the area of interest.

The current document is directed to methods and systems for monitoring a dental patient's progress during a course of treatment. A three-dimensional model of the expected positions of the patient's teeth can be projected, in time, from a three-dimensional model of the patient's teeth prepared prior to beginning the treatment. A digital camera is used to take one or more two-dimensional photographs of the patient's teeth, which are input to a monitoring system. The monitoring system determines virtual-camera parameters for each two-dimensional input image with respect to the time-projected three-dimensional model, uses the determined virtual-camera parameters to generate two-dimensional images from the three-dimensional model, and then compares each input photograph to the corresponding generated two-dimensional image in order to determine how closely the three-dimensional arrangement of the patient's teeth corresponds to the time-projected three-dimensional arrangement.

Methods for simulating orthodontic treatment are provided. In some embodiments, a method includes capturing a first representation, the first representation including a depiction of a patient's teeth. The method can include building a parametric model of the patient's teeth based on the first representation, using one or more case-specific parameters for one or more shapes associated with at least one of the patient's teeth. The method can also include simulating an outcome of a dental treatment plan for the patient's teeth to produce a simulated outcome of the dental treatment plan. An image of a dental arch comprising a preparation tooth is generated by an image capture device associated with an augmented reality (AR) display. The image of the dental arch is registered to previous image data associated with the dental arch. A processing device receives, from an image capture device associated with an augmented reality (AR) display, a plurality of images of a face of a patient. The processing device selects a subset of the plurality of images that meet one or more image selection criteria. The selection comprises determining, from the plurality of images, a first image that represents a first position extreme for the face; determining, from the plurality of images, a second image that represents a second position extreme of the face; selecting the first image; and selecting the second image. The processing device further generates a model of a jaw of the patient based at least in part on the subset of the plurality of images that have been selected.
