Surgical device guidance and monitoring devices, systems, and methods

Provided herein are systems, devices, assemblies, and methods for generating exciter signals, for example, to activate a remotely located tag. The systems, devices, assemblies, and methods find use in a variety of application including medical applications for the locating of a tag in a subject.

Exciter assemblies

A device and method is disclosed for creating a lesion in adventitia tissue of a renal artery and/or a region of tissue surrounding the adventitia tissue while protecting intima and media tissue of the renal artery from injury. A catheter carrying a microwave antenna is positioned within the renal artery. Cooling fluid is circulated around the microwave antenna in thermal contact with the intima of the renal artery. Power is supplied to the microwave antenna to cause microwave energy to be emitted omnidirectionally from the microwave antenna. The power supplied to the microwave antenna and the cooling fluid circulated around the microwave antenna are controlled to cause the adventitia tissue and/or the region of tissue surrounding the adventitia tissue to be heated to a temperature sufficient to cause thermal damage while the intima and media tissue are maintained at a temperature where thermal damage does not occur.

Cooled microwave denervation

Provided herein are systems, devices, assemblies, and methods for localization of a tag in a tissue of a patient. For example, provided herein are systems, devices, and methods employing an implantable tag that emits sidebands at defined frequencies upon activation by a magnetic field generated by a remote activating device, and a plurality of witness stations configured to detect such sidebands. Also provided herein are herein are systems, devices, and methods employing a detection component that is attached to or integrated with a surgical device.

Orthogonally isolated exciter with field steering

A catheter is disclosed for creating a lesion in nerve-containing tissue spaced from a body lumen while protecting tissue forming and adjacent to a wall of the body lumen from injury. The catheter includes a catheter body having at least one fluid passage therein, a balloon in communication with the at least one fluid passage to receive cooling fluid for inflating the balloon, a microwave antenna carried by the catheter that emits microwave energy omnidirectionally, thereby heating the tissue spaced from the body lumen to a temperature sufficient to cause thermal damage while the tissue forming and adjacent to the wall of the body lumen are maintained at a temperature where thermal damage does not occur, and a tip structure located at an end of the catheter body, configured to receive a guide wire extending through the at least one fluid passage in the catheter body.

Cooled microwave denervation catheter with insertion feature

A method of performing denervation with a cooled microwave denervation catheter assembly includes advancing a catheter body over a guide wire in a body lumen of a patient to a treatment location adjacent targeted nerves, with the guide wire being located in an interior lumen of the catheter body, inflating the balloon with cooling fluid to contact a wall of the body lumen of the patient, removing the guide wire from the interior lumen of the catheter body, and inserting a microwave antenna catheter into the interior lumen of the catheter body, so that denervation treatment may be performed by simultaneously circulating cooling fluid in the balloon and supplying power to the microwave antenna, to cause the targeted nerves to be heated to a temperature sufficient to cause thermal damage while the wall of the body lumen is maintained at a temperature where thermal damage does not occur.
