A first radio node, Node1, in a wireless communication network transmits a signal to a second radio node, Node2, under a constraint of spectrum flatness&#x2014;meaning a maximum variation of power of the transmitted signal, within a transmission bandwidth. Spectrum flatness configurations may be determined by a network node and transmitted to Node1. Alternatively, Node1 may determine a spectrum flatness configuration and transmit it to a network node. In either case, Node1 adapts one or more coefficients of a transmission filter such that a transmission to Node2 will be in accordance with the obtained spectrum flatness configuration, and then transmits a signal to Node2 using the transmission filter with the adapted coefficients.

System and method of signaling spectrum flatness configuration

A method for signal distortion mitigation in a communication device with at least one transmitter in a communication system, generating a signal for transmission for each of the at least one transmitter; performing Peak-to-Average Power Ratio (PAPR) reduction and spectrum shaping of each of the generated signal to provide a distorted signal for transmission; determining signal distortions of the distorted signals, and precoding the determined signal distortions. The method further generating a composite signal for transmission based on the precoded determined signal distortions and the generated signal for transmission, to provide a composite signal, and transmitting the composite signal to at least one receiving communication device, wherein the precoding enables mitigating the signal distortion impact on the at least one receiver.

Method and arrangement for signal distortion mitigation

The proposed technology relates to accessing wireless networks and in particular it relates to utilizing a second wireless network for enabling a wireless device, being unable to access a first wireless network, to access a first wireless network. One aspect of the proposed technology relates to a method performed in a wireless device being unable to access a first wireless network. The method comprises accessing a second wireless network and sending information indicating an inability to access the first wireless network to the second wireless network, for further distribution to the first wireless network. Thereby, the proposed method enables the first wireless network to reconfigure at least one access procedure parameter in the first wireless network in order to improve the conditions for the wireless device when accessing the first wireless network. The method further comprises accessing the first wireless network utilizing at least one reconfigured access procedure.

Network access through a second wireless network

A method and user node for maintaining a connection with a network node when operating in a multi-carrier mode using a first filter configuration to receive multiple frequency carriers simultaneously for downlink communication. The user node applies a mode switching scheme comprising first intervals for the multi-carrier mode and second intervals for a single carrier mode using a second filter configuration to receive a single carrier for the downlink communication. In this case, the user node switches temporarily from the multi-carrier mode to operate in the single carrier mode during the second intervals according to the mode switching scheme. Thereby the user node is enabled to maintain the connection by receiving messages and/or control signalling from the network node over the single frequency carrier during the second intervals, for example when the multi-carrier mode is highly disturbed by interference.

Methods and nodes for maintaining a wireless connection in a wireless communications network

Techniques for accessing wireless networks relate to utilizing a second wireless network for enabling a wireless device, being unable to access a first wireless network, to access a first wireless network. An example embodiment comprises a method performed in a wireless device being unable to access a first wireless network. The method comprises accessing a second wireless network and sending information indicating an inability to access the first wireless network to the second wireless network, for further distribution to the first wireless network. Thereby, the method enables the first wireless network to reconfigure at least one access procedure parameter in the first wireless network in order to improve the conditions for the wireless device when accessing the first wireless network. The method further comprises accessing the first wireless network utilizing at least one reconfigured access procedure.

There is provided access to a communications channel in a wireless communications network. Stations (STAs) associated with an access point (AP) are grouped in at least two groups of STAs, each group being associated with a minimum transmission power level needed by the AP to communicate with the STAs in that group. A first time interval is allocated for a first group of STAs associated with highest minimum transmission power to access the communications channel concurrently with a third time interval being allocated by another AP for a third group of STAs associated with lowest minimum transmission power level needed by said another AP to communicate with the third group of STAs to access the communications channel. A second time interval, non-overlapping with the first time interval, is allocated for a second group of STAs associated with lowest minimum transmission power to access the communications channel concurrently with a fourth time interval being allocated by said another AP for a fourth group of STAs associated with highest minimum transmission power level needed by said another AP to communicate with the fourth group of STAs to access the communications channel.

Access to a communications channel in a wireless communications network

Method in a network node for managing radio resources. The network node is comprised in a wireless radio network. A mobile station is configured to operate in the wireless radio network. The mobile station has a maximum bandwidth for simultaneous receptions, and a first carrier list comprising carriers. The carriers are radio carriers assigned to the mobile station. The maximum bandwidth cannot envelope all the carriers in the first carrier list. The network node removes one or more carriers from the first carrier list. The removing of the one or more carriers is performed, one carrier by one carrier, until the maximum bandwidth can envelope all remaining carriers after the removing. The one or more removed carriers have a lowest priority according to a priority list. The remaining carriers comprise carriers to receive for the mobile station.

Network node and method therein for managing radio resources

Method and an apparatus for application of distortion shaping when using Peak-to-Average Ratio (PAR) reduction. The apparatus obtains an input signal. The apparatus applies, on the input signal, the PAR reduction and the distortion shaping to form an output signal. A bandwidth associated with the distortion shaping covers multiple channel bandwidths comprised in the input signal, which multiple channel bandwidths are associated with one or more Radio Access Technologies (RATs). Embodiments herein facilitate the distortion shaping and applicability of PAR reduction, in particular in case one of the RATs is Global System for Mobile Communications (GSM) or similar and/or the input signal is associated with radio communications systems that support multiple RATs.

Method and apparatus for application of distortion shaping when using peak-to-average ratio reduction

A method in a network node for assigning resource blocks to a Mobile Station, MS, served by the network node. The MS is capable of downlink multicarrier operation. The network node receives from the MS an indication of a maximum number of consecutive downlink timeslots that the MS is capable of receiving on a given carrier during a TTI. The network node receives, from the MS, an indication of a maximum number of resource blocks that the MS is capable of processing during a TTI. The network node receives, from the MS, an indication of a maximum number of carriers supported by the MS. The network node assigns resource blocks to the MS, based on the received indication of a maximum number of consecutive downlink TS, the received indication of a maximum number of resource blocks and the received indication of a maximum number of carriers.

Mobile station, network node, and methods for assigning resource blocks to the mobile station

The embodiments herein relate to a method in a transmitter for transmitting a data burst to a receiver in a system supporting GSM and/or EGPRS. The transmitter is arranged to make its transmissions with or without beamforming. The transmitter comprises at least two Tx antennas. When the data burst is beamformed, the transmitter transmits the data burst to the receiver through at least one of the at least two Tx antennas. The data burst comprises a common training sequence. When the data burst is non-beamformed, the transmitter transmits the data burst to the receiver through each of the at least two Tx antennas. The data burst comprises a respective antenna specific training sequence.

Beamforming

A method and a wireless access node for enabling management of cellular connectivity of a wireless device as well as a method and a wireless device for providing information about availability of cellular connectivity towards a radio network node are disclosed. The wireless device has Wi-Fi radio for access to the wireless access node and cellular radio for access to the radio network node. The wireless device sends, to the wireless access node, a second message, which indicates to the wireless access node availability of the cellular connectivity. The wireless access node manages the cellular connectivity based on the second message.

Methods and nodes for information transfer in WLAN

The disclosure relates to a method in a base station subsystem, BSS, for transmission of radio link control, RLC, blocks in an extended sequence number space, SNS, and extended transmit window size on multiple downlink carriers. An RLC/Medium Access Control, MAC, header having a fixed number of bits comprises multiple control fields. A number of bits of the RLC/MAC header comprise a block sequence number, BSN, space, the BSN space includes at least one BSN field, each BSN field including a respective BSN. The method includes selecting one or more spare bits in the RLC/MAC header. Each RLC block is indexed with a BSN selected from a range of block indices representing an extended sequence number space and extended transmit window size, where the BSN is included in a BSN field of an expanded BSN space including the selected one or more spare bits.

Precoding for MIMO

A wireless communication network having received priority access requests on an access channel issues an implicit reject response on a grant channel, such as a flag or other value embedded in an explicit access grant or explicit access reject response. The implicit reject response applies to some or all outstanding low-priority access requests. At the expiration of a terminal's grant channel monitoring window, if it has detected an applicable implicit reject response but not an explicit response, the terminal will refrain from transmitting another access request for a predetermined or configurable duration. The implicit reject response may comprise a flag, or a value that implicitly rejects only a fraction of the outstanding low-priority access requests. The implicit reject response may comprise a duration that the terminal must wait prior to transmitting another access request, and may direct the terminal to directly monitor the grant channel without transmitting a subsequent access request.
