The present disclosure is directed to random, acrylic co-polymers that are useful in transdermal applications. Methods of making and using the described co-polymers are also described.

Acrylic polymers and their use in transdermal drug delivery

Disclosed are photoinitiators that are ultra violet (UV) reactive. The photoinitiators can be polymerized into polymeric backbones for use in UV curable hot melt pressure sensitive adhesives. The preferred polymeric backbones are acrylic-based polymers. The photoinitiators are very UVC sensitive and have excellent hot melt viscosity stability that is many fold higher than existing photoinitiators. The subject photoinitiators feature aryl ketones linked through an ether linkage to a variety of connector sequences that allow for polymerization of the photoinitiators.

A transdermal nicotine salt delivery system to an individual. The system has a high nicotine salt loading to effect therapeutic flux rate. Acrylate polymeric drug reservoir with the high nicotine salt dissolved therein provides desirable adhesive characteristics and effective transdermal therapeutic properties.

By loading the drug and permeation enhancers at a high concentration into a polyacrylate proadhesive that has inadequate adhesive properties for typical adhesive application on the skin, a formulation with desirable adhesive characteristics and effective therapeutic properties can be made. The proadhesive has higher glass transition temperature than typical pressure sensitive adhesives.

High enhancer-loading polyacrylate formulation for transdermal applications

An adhesive composition which lacks functional groups containing reactive hydrogen moieties and contains no post-polymerization chemical crosslinker finds use in transdermal drug delivery systems. The invention enables the administration of drugs containing a reactive functional group, which drugs have heretofore not been able to be administered by the transdermal route using conventional acrylic adhesives.
