Apparatuses, machine-accessible storage media, and methods for noninvasively measuring a heart performance metric, such as left ventricular filling pressure, are described. In an embodiment, the apparatus includes a housing shaped to be grasped by a hand; a tower protruding from a surface of the housing positioned to conform to a finger of the hand when grasping the housing; a tactile sensor disposed on a curved surface of the tower and adapted to measure blood pressure pulsatility in a digital artery of the finger and output pulsatility signals indicative of the blood pressure pulsatility; a graphical user interface for orchestrating a test of the performance metric of the heart and displaying results of the test.

Hand-held apparatus for noninvasive measurement of a heart performance metric

A device can include a capsule containing an array of microneedles and a mechanical actuator. The device can be in an ingestible form for delivery to a duodenum or other target location within a subject and can release the mechanical actuator from constraint by the capsule in response to stimuli or conditions in or en route to the duodenum or other target location. The mechanical actuator upon release from constraint by the capsule can expand outwardly (e.g., responsive to a bias provided by a flexibly resilient material of the mechanical actuator) in a direction away from a central longitudinal axis of the mechanical actuator and drive the array of microneedles into penetrating engagement with a lining of the duodenum or other target location. The penetrating engagement can facilitate delivery of a biotherapeutic agent or other payload via the microneedles.

A dosage measurement system is adapted to receive a motion from a dosage injection mechanism disposed within a drug injection pen. The dosage measurement system includes a substrate, a sensing capacitor disposed on the substrate, and a lifting tab. The sensing capacitor includes a dielectric layer disposed between a base plate and an adjustable plate. The lifting tab is attached to the adjustable plate and positioned to engage an undulation pattern disposed on a component attached to the dosage injection mechanism. The lifting tab is adapted to physically change a separation distance between the adjustable plate and the base plate in a reciprocal manner in response to the motion of the dosage injection mechanism and engagement with the undulation pattern. A capacitance of the sensing capacitor changes in response to the engagement of the lifting tab with the undulation pattern and the motion of the dosage injection mechanism.

An electronic device having a battery assembly is disclosed. Unlike traditional battery assemblies that include rectilinear electrodes with two sides of equal length, the battery assemblies described herein may include electrodes having a shape/configuration resembling an L-shape electrode used to form chemical reactions in order to generate electrical energy. However, other shapes/configurations are possible. The shape/configuration of the housing of the battery assembly confirms to the shape/configuration of the electrodes. Further, in order to accommodate an internal component (such as a circuit board assembly), the shape of the battery assembly provides additional space in the electronic device. In order to form the electrodes, the electrodes may undergo a die cutting operation. Also, the housing may include a channel, or reduced dimension, that accommodates a flexible circuit in the electronic device that passes over the battery assembly at the channel.

A thermal distribution assembly for an electronic device is disclosed. The electronic device includes an enclosure defined by a metal band and a non-metal bottom wall formed by glass, sapphire, or plastic. In this regard, the enclosure may include a relatively low thermal conductivity. However, the thermal distribution assembly provides heat transfer capabilities that offset thermal conductivity losses by using a non-metal bottom wall, and also provides added structural support. The thermal distribution assembly may include a first layer, a second layer, and a third layer. The first and third layers provide structural support, while the second layer provides a relatively high thermally conductive layer. The thermal distribution assembly includes sidewalls engaging and thermally coupling to the metal band, allowing the thermal distribution assembly to draw heat from a heat-generating component, and pass the heat to the metal band while minimizing or preventing temperature increases along the non-metal bottom wall.

The quick release bite mount comprises a quick release coupler portion and a malleable overmold that allows a user to bite down on the mount when a user holds the mount with a mouth. The overmold part of the mount can be a material such as rubber, plastic, or gel based structure. The overmold has an outer ridge that can hang from teeth of a user, allowing the user to relax their jaw during use. The plastic part of the mount has a thin, flexible area that the rubber part is overmolded over. This adds stiffness to the malleable area, while still allowing it to flex. The mount is configured to mechanically couple with a camera (or camera housing). The camera can be coupled to the mount such the camera can capture images in an unobstructed field of view when the mount is gripped in the mouth of a user.
