The methods can include removing one or more portions of one or more exterior surfaces of the tail to define one or more channels within the one or more surfaces of the tail. Methods for luring fish using a soft bait fishing lure are also provided. The methods can include channeling at least some of the water through one or more channels within the surface of the tail of the fishing lure.
