Systems and methods for operating a circuit. The methods comprise: using a first thermal responsive device to connect a first power source between first and second terminals to which an external load can be connected to the circuit; using a second thermal responsive device to cause a thermal unresponsive device to be in an open circuit condition; and performing operations responsive to a temperature of a surrounding environment exceeding a given temperature value. The operations include: disconnecting the first power source from at least the first terminal by transitioning the first thermal responsive device from a closed state to an open state; and connecting a second power source between the first and second terminals by transitioning the thermal unresponsive device from the open circuit condition to a closed circuit condition using the second thermal responsive device.

Automated talkgroup assignment system includes a work group assignment panel. Interactive display sections are provided in the panel to removably receive placards for display. The placards each include a short range communication (SRC) tag and have textual information on a display face thereof to identify a member of a work group. The interactive display sections each have one or more SRC enabled devices which obtain tag identifying data (TID) from the SRC tag when a placard associated with that SRC tag is disposed proximate to the SRC enabled device in the interactive display section. A control processor receives the TID values and generates one or more data messages based on the TID received. The data message(s) indicate which of the plurality of placards are displayed respectively in each of the interactive display sections to facilitate setting of a talkgroup channel.

An external speaker/microphone apparatus for a radio transceiver includes a speaker, a microphone, a push-to-talk switch, and an emergency switch. The apparatus further includes an encoder module operatively coupled to the push-to-talk switch and the emergency switch and configured to generate a digital identification each time the push-to-talk switch is pressed, and a digital emergency signal and digital identification when the emergency switch is pressed. The apparatus also includes a connector configured to operatively couple audio to the speaker from the transceiver, a combination audio signal from the microphone and the encoder module to the transceiver. The connector is further configured to operatively couple the push-to-talk switch and the emergency switch to the transceiver so that the transceiver is switched to a transmit mode when either the push-to-talk switch or the emergency switch is pressed.
