The invention presents methods and devices for controlling and modifying the core body temperature of a human or other mammal. The apparatus contains an element to be placed in contact with an individual's skin, such as the palm of a hand or sole of a foot; the element emits radiation, preferably within the red to infrared range of 550 nm to 950 nm, inducing vasodilation and increased blood flow in the region beneath the contacting area. A heat exchange element is concurrently in contact with the skin, capable of transferring heat into or removing heat from the circulatory vasculature, through the skin surface. The circulatory system carries the increase or decrease in thermal energy to the body's core organs. As such the method and devices are capable of increasing or decreasing the core body temperature, or maintaining current core body temperature in the presence of external thermal elements.

A glove with optimized safety markings designed to improve worker safety in hazardous environments by increasing the visibility of the glove in the work environment and more easily distinguishing between the front and back of the glove. A preferred embodiment has fluorescent yellow hazard stripes, fluorescent yellow triangular safety icon and black negative space within the safety icon, all on protective members. The protective members, black in color except for the fluorescent yellow portions, are attached to the glove back.

A method for fabricating the palm portion of a glove wherein the top surface of a leather material is treated with polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE). A layer of silicone is then applied to the leather surface, the silicone penetrating into the material to a predetermined depth, and the resultant assembly is then operated on in a manner to form raised portions and wells in the top and bottom surface of the assembly. The wells in the bottom surface of the assembly are then filled with silicone.

A glove structure that incorporates a palm piece having a portion that rolls over the fingertips and is sewn to the top portion of the back piece thus eliminating the conventional thick seam lines on the fingertips and resulting in a smooth seam of material over the entire fingertip and a substantial increase in finger tactility. The palm material narrows as it rolls over the fingertip and preferably has the shape of an hourglass.
