The present invention is directed to properly maneuver heavy cargo to an ergonomically correct lifting height, including for equipment stored on firefighting and rescue vehicles. Mechanically and electromechanically actuated means for raising, lowering, and storing heavy equipment in, on, and around vehicles and other structures are provided.

Disclosed are systems and methods of adjusting the playing orientation of the head of a golf club. An adjustment to the axis of the shaft in reference to the vertical plane is constrained within minimum and maximum limits, so as to conform to current and proposed changes to the United States Golf Association (USGA) rules of play. The fine adjustment within these constraints cannot be readily made, and all adjustable parts are firmly fixed, so there is no reasonable likelihood of them working loose during a round. The adjustments to the club are designed such that during a stipulated round, the playing characteristics of a club cannot be purposely changed by adjustment or by other means.

Described herein are devices for applying conductive gels to electrodes and the gel-laminated electrodes produced thereby. The devices permit the reuse of the electrodes by easily applying fresh gels to them for each subsequent use. In a first example embodiment, all of the components of the laminating device are provided in a single housing. In a second example embodiment, the gel applying and drive components are housed within the device, and a replaceable cartridge houses the gels and the gel delivery components. Also described herein are dispensers for storing and dispensing conductive gels that can be readily applied to and removed from an electrode.

A medication management system which includes three components to assist a patient control, monitor and manage administration of prescribed medications. The system comprises a patient component having a retrievable patient database of patient medical history, prior prescribed medications and current prescribed medications, and it includes a data transfer interface, e.g., a hardwired interface, such as an RS232 interface or infrared data transfer port. The system also includes a physician component having a retrievable physician's database of medication information and an input/output device enabling a prescribing physician to enter prescription information into the physician component. The physician's database is capable of receiving and storing patient data transferred from the patient component through said data transfer interface. The system finally also includes a pharmacist component resident on a pharmacist's computer. The pharmacist's computer is adapted to interface with said patient component to transfer prescription data to said pharmacist component. At least one of or each of the physician component and the pharmacist component has the capability of searching a medication database to determine potential medication interactions with currently prescribed medications and identify those to the physician or pharmacist for selective downloading to the patient component so that the patient can be alerted to the potential interactions. The patient component has a scheduler which tracks a plurality of medication dose schedules and includes alarm functions to prompt a patient to take particular medications, reschedule them, and alert the patient to potential interactions between medications and/or provide caution information to the patient for administration of the medication.

A system for printing social expression cards includes both a database preparation system and a plurality of remote card printing systems. The database preparation system uses a scanner to input images from a plurality of cards, or a computer software program to create a plurality of images for use in card designs. A high resolution print image and a lower resolution display image are created from each of these images. A card description database defines the layout of each card in terms of its component images and their locations on the card. The database preparation system can also build a menu database defining a structure of menu screens to query the user to select a desired category of cards. A list of card names is linked to each category in the menu database. These databases and image files are then copied onto removable data storage media for distribution to each of the card printing systems.

A computer memory backup device which utilizes standardized computer tape cartridges is disclosed. The focus of the invention is upon the techniques for ascertaining the appropriate placement of such cartridges to allow operation of the computer memory backup device. The device being connected to a computer allows for the determination of a cartridge presence through the use of an optical sensor mechanism. The sensor mechanism includes a light emitting diode (l.e.d.), light pipe and phototransistor. During any time that the cartridge is not in the computer memory device or improperly or incompletely inserted the electromagnetic radiation emitted by the l.e.d. will be directed by the light pipe to the phototransistor. In this manner a negative determination is correctly made. When the cartridge is correctly and completely inserted, the pathway of the electromagnetic radiation is blocked between the light pipe and the phototransistor. In this manner a positive determination is correctly made. To enhance the accuracy of the disclosed device, time domain filtering is used to screen erroneous electromagnetic radiation from causing an incorrect cartridge in determination.

An interchangeable adapter module allows a circuit board, tape cartridge system, or other add-on device to be readily interfaced with any of a variety of different computer systems. A number of pins extend perpendicularly outward from the device circuit board. An adapter circuit board having a pin connector attached thereto engages these pins to removably secure the adapter module in a plane parallel to the device circuit board. One or more external connectors attached to the adapter circuit board are then plugged into corresponding connectors of the external electronic system. Electrical interface circuitry on the adapter circuit board provides electrical interconnections between a predetermined set of the pins attached to the device, and a predetermined set of the electrical contacts of the external connectors.
