Embodiments of a rope tension device for cinching a load with a rope are disclosed. The rope tension device includes a frame and brake member. The frame includes a first rail and a second rail with a bracing structure extending between the first rail and the second rail such that the bracing structure defines an arcuate surface. The brake member is pivotably coupled to the frame. Further, the brake member defines a brake surface such that the brake surface is biased with a spring member toward the arcuate surface, the brake surface defining an axially extending concave feature that faces the arcuate surface of the bracing structure. With this arrangement, a gap defined between the arcuate surface and the axially extending concave feature varies in height along an axial width defined between the first and second rails so as to receive the rope within the gap for cinching the load.

Rope tension device and method thereof

A stake system and method configured to be used in substantially loose material to anchor an object are provided. In one embodiment, the stake system includes a flexible line and a stake member having an elongated portion and a distal portion. One end of the flexible line couples to the distal portion of the stake member. The distal portion of the stake member and the flexible line are driven into the loose material. The flexible line is moved to extend tautly from the distal portion and through the loose material at an angle such that an end of the flexible line above the loose material couples to the object.

Stake system and method for soft material

Systems, devices and/or methods of a stake system configured to be used in substantially loose material to anchor a stake-down object are provided. In one embodiment, the stake system includes an elongate member and a flexible line. One end of the flexible line is configured to be coupled to a distal portion of the elongate member and is configured to be below an exposed surface of the loose material. The flexible line is sized and configured to cut through the loose material such that at least a portion of the intermediate portion extends tautly away from the elongate member and through the loose material below the exposed surface. With this arrangement, the other end of the flexible line is configured to extend above the loose material and configured to be coupled to the stake-down object.

A method and apparatus for reducing friction in a cam buckle for tightening a strap. The cam buckle includes a frame, a brake member, a roller member, a biasing element and a webbed strap. The brake member includes a serrated surface and is rotatably coupled to the frame and pivotal about a first axis. The roller member is rotatably coupled to the frame about a second axis, wherein the first axis and the second axis are substantially parallel to each other. The biasing element is operable to bias the serrated surface of the brake member toward the roller member. The webbed strap is formed from a polymeric material and is operable to be biased between the serrated surface and the roller member so that the brake member biases the webbed strap against the roller member. With this arrangement, when the webbed strap is placed in tension, such tension is maintained by preventing movement of the webbed strap in one direction and allowing movement in a second direction to increase the tension. The roller member is operable to rotate with movement of the webbed strap in the second direction to increase the tension in the webbed strap.

Roller cam buckle

A filtering apparatus includes a filter vessel having an inlet and an outlet for fluid. A tube sheet is disposed within the filter vessel and separates the inlet from the outlet. A plurality of elongated filter elements extend nonvertically from the tube sheet, each filter element having a first end and a second end farther from the tube sheet than the first end and being at a different height than the first end.

Filtering apparatus

A surfboard has ribbed or corrugated side rails for improved strength without an increase in weight. In a first embodiment, the board comprises a rigid, buoyant foam core, over which a rigid shell is formed, the shell having side rails with at least one external longitudinal rib. In a second embodiment, the board comprises an injection-molded plastic shell, into which a buoyant foam material is injected. The shell is formed with at least one internal longitudinal rib along each side rail. A portion of the top surface of the surfboard is covered with a layer of unbroken loop nylon material overlying a layer of closed cell foam material to form a resilient, non-abrasive, slip-resistant, water-repellent mat. A foot piece having a sole portion of unbroken loop nylon material is removably attachable to the mat by a double-sided patch of fibrous hook material.
