Systems and methods for cancelling brake torque variation in a motor vehicle are disclosed. Signals indicative of brake torque variation are received at a controller. Based on the signals, a frequency associated with the indicated brake torque variation is determined. At least one of an output time and output volume of pressurized brake fluid is adjusted based on the frequency to cancel the indicated brake torque variation.

Active cancellation of brake torque variation

An anti-lock brake control system for a vehicle that increases the tire slip when the vehicle brake component(s) are at an excessive thermal load. The brake control system has an operator input for commanding vehicle braking, and brake actuators A- C for applying braking force to wheels A- D in response to the operator input. In addition, the brake control system includes a temperature sensor for sensing temperature of a brake related component, and wheel speed sensors for sensing rotational speed of the wheels. Further, the brake control system includes a controller for controlling the amount of braking by the brake actuators in accordance with a tire slip. The controller determines the amount of tire slip during braking and increases the amount of tire slip to transfer thermal load to the vehicle tires when the temperature is excessive.

Anti-lock brake control system to reduce thermal load

An anti-lock brake control system for a vehicle that enhances vehicle braking when the vehicle is commanded to travel in a substantially straight trajectory. The brake control system has an operator input for commanding vehicle braking, and brake actuators A- C for applying braking force to wheels A- D in response to the operator input. In addition, the brake control system includes a steering angle sensor for sensing a steering angle of the vehicle, and a wheel speed sensors for sensing rotational speed of the wheels. Further, the brake control system includes a controller for controlling the amount of braking by the brake actuators A- C in accordance with a tire slip as determined by the wheel speed. The controller determines the amount of tire slip during braking and increases the amount of tire slip to increase vehicle braking when the vehicle is commanded to travel in a substantially straightline trajectory.
