Embodiments of durable, anti-reflective articles are described. In one or more embodiments, the article includes a substrate and an anti-reflective coating disposed on the major surface. The article exhibits an average light transmittance of about 94% or greater over an optical wavelength regime and/or an average light reflectance of about 2% or less over the optical wavelength regime, as measured from an anti-reflective surface. In some embodiments, the article exhibits a maximum hardness of about 8 GPa or greater as measured by a Berkovich Indenter Hardness Test along an indentation depth of about 50 nm or greater and a b* value, in reflectance, in the range from about −5 to about 1 as measured on the anti-reflective surface only at all incidence illumination angles in the range from about 0 degrees to about 60 degrees under an International Commission on Illumination illuminant.

Durable anti-reflective articles

A system includes a stage, a detector and a measuring device. The stage is configured to hold a substrate. The substrate includes a plurality of tapered structures, and each of the plurality of tapered structures includes a tapered wall between first and second openings at opposite ends of the plurality of tapered structures. The detector is tilted at a first angle and configured to measure light reflected from the tapered wall at about 90 degrees to the tapered wall. The first angle depends at least in part a second angle between the tapered wall and a longitudinal axis running through the tapered structure. The measuring device is configured to determine a characteristic of the tapered wall and whether the characteristic of the tapered wall is above or below a threshold.

Nondestructive imaging and surface quality inspection of structured plates

Embodiments of durable, anti-reflective articles are described. In one or more embodiments, the article includes a substrate and an anti-reflective coating disposed on the major surface. Some embodiments of present disclosure are directed to a micro-perforated glass or glass-ceramics laminate, comprising a first substrate laminated to a second substrate by a first polymer interlayer, wherein the first and the second substrates are independently selected from glass or glass-ceramics, and a plurality of micro-perforations, each of the plurality of micro-perforations extending through the first substrate, the first polymer interlayer, and the second substrate. Some embodiments are directed to methods of forming such micro-perforated glass or glass-ceramics laminates.

Micro-perforated glass laminates and methods of making the same

An article that includes: a glass, glass-ceramic or ceramic substrate comprising a primary surface; at least one of an optical film and a scratch-resistant film disposed over the primary surface; and an easy-to-clean (ETC) coating comprising a fluorinated material that is disposed over an outer surface of the at least one of an optical film and a scratch-resistant film. The at least one of an optical film and a scratch-resistant film comprises an average hardness of 12 GPa or more. Further, the outer surface of the at least one of an optical film and a scratch-resistant film comprises a surface roughness (R) of less than 1.0 nm. Further, the at least one of an optical film and a scratch-resistant film comprises a total thickness of about 500 nm or more.

Glass, glass-ceramic and ceramic articles with durable lubricious anti-fingerprint coatings over optical and scratch-resistant coatings and methods of making the same

According to one or more embodiments disclosed herein, a coated article may include a substrate and an optical coating. The optical coating may be disposed on a major surface of the substrate and may form an air-side surface. The optical coating may include an optical stack, an adhesion coating, and an easy-to-clean coating. The adhesion coating may comprise an alumina layer and a silica layer. The present disclosure is also directed to methods for depositing optical coatings on substrates and to consumer electronic products which include the coated articles.

Coated articles that include easy-to-clean coatings

An article that includes: a glass, glass-ceramic or ceramic substrate comprising a primary surface; and an easy-to-clean (ETC) coating disposed over the primary surface, the coating comprising a bound ETC component and a mobile ETC component. Further, the bound ETC component comprises a perfluoropolyether (PFPE) silane. In addition, the mobile ETC component is disposed on or within the bound ETC component and comprises a fluorinated material, the mobile ETC component configured for movement relative to the bound ETC component.
