Process for preparing metyrapone type compounds are generally described herein. In particular, one step process for preparing metyrapone type compounds are described herein. Such processes generally include an alpha-carbon arylation coupling reaction between 3-isobutyrylpyridine and 3-halopyridine compounds in the presence of a palladium catalyst and a phosphine ligand to form the metyrapone-type compounds. 

Process for the synthesis of metyrapone and alkylated metyrapone analogs

The invention relates to a novel method for the preparation of 4-phenyldibenzo[b,d]thiophene which can be conducted in one pot up to the thiophene ring formation. The synthesis is based upon dihalobenzenes and phenyllithium, which are readily obtainable, and can give higher yields (based upon either reactant) than the yields current methods, which use a synthetic pathway based upon dibenzo[b,d]thiophene.

Processes of preparing estolide compounds that include removing sulfonate residues

A highly advantageous process for the preparation of 2-(3-hydroxy-1-adamantyl)-2-oxoacetic acid or a salt thereof is described. The process comprises subjecting 1-acetyl 3-hydroxyadamantane to liquid phase oxidation with permanganate to produce 2-(3-hydroxy-1-adamantyl)-2-oxoacetic acid or a salt thereof, with acidification to form the free acid when appropriate.

An improved process for the reaction of acetonitrile and hydrogen sulfide to produce thioacetamide, wherein a polymer-supported amine catalyst is used. Examples of the polymer-supported amine catalyst are polymeric dimethylaminopyridine resins, poly(4-vinylpyridine) cross-linked with divinylbenzene, and cross-linked polymer-supported 4-(N-benzyl-N-methylamino)pyridine.

The disclosure herein relates to a new family of haloalkyl oxazolidinyl derivatives as antidotal compounds to reduce injury to crop plants by a variety of herbicides. The antidotal compounds are characterized particularly by having heterocyclyl or spiroheterocyclyl radicals attached to the 5-position of haloalkyl oxazolidine compounds and are especially useful as in-can antidotes against injury by acetanilide and thiocarbamate herbicides to corn, sorghum, soybeans, wheat, rice and other crops.
