A system includes a base, and an emitter including a light source operable to generate a beam of visible radiation. The beam of radiation impinges a substantially horizontal support surface at a location approximately three meters from the emitter when the base is disposed on the support surface and the emitter is supported by the base. The system also includes a vision screening device supported by the base, the vision screening device having a first display, and a second display opposite the first display and facing the location. The system further includes a controller operable to cause the second display to output an image included in a visual acuity examination based at least in part on generation of the visible beam.

Vision screening systems and methods

Various implementations disclosed herein relate to systems, methods, and devices to facilitate mass vision screening of individuals. An example method includes capturing a first image of an individual and confirming an identity of the individual based on the first image. In response to confirming the identity of the individual, the method may further include capturing one or more second images of an eye of the individual; determining one or more health metrics of the individual based on the one or more second images, and transmitting, to a remote device, the identity of the individual and the one or more health metrics of the individual. The one or more health metrics may include at least one of a pupillary distance of the individual, a pupil size of the eye of the individual, a complete refraction of the eye of the individual, or an alignment indicator of the eye of the individual.

Systems and methods to facilitate vision screening and reporting

A vision screening system for testing the vision of a patient is described herein. The vision screening system may include a vision screening device configured to perform a number of vision screening tests. For example, the system may be configured to determine or generate a graphical representation for display to the patient, via the vision screening device, to evaluate the health of the patient's vision and/or detect abnormal vision behavior. The system may be configured to evaluate image/video data recorded by the vision screening device to determine measurements associated with the patient during the vision screening. The system may be configured to analyze the measurements to generate a diagnosis recommendation associated with the vision of the patient. The system may also be configured to display the recommendation and/or the measurements, along with additional screening data, to a tester conducting the vision test.

Vision screening device and methods

A digital imaging system processes digital images of a subject's fundus and/or pupils to determine pupil edge region pixels. Pupil edge region pixels are removed and a glint area is identified and interpolated over. Resulting images can be processed to determine a pixel intensity distribution slope. Using the pixel intensity distribution slope, refractive error determinations can be made.

Pupil edge region removal in digital imaging

A digital imaging system processes digital images of a subject's fundus and/or pupils to determine a pupil edge. Two regions of a digital image are evaluated to determine a threshold value. Typically, the two regions are selected such that each region would usually not include artifacts. The threshold value can then be used to identify a pupil-iris threshold in the digital image. Based on the pupil-iris threshold, pupil edges are identified.

Pupil edge detection in digital imaging

A system for conducting an examination of the eyes of a subject includes an examination instrument which emits light at infrared wavelengths, and a shield. The shield provides shielding of the subject's eyes from visible wavelengths. At least a portion of the shield is transparent to the infrared wavelengths emitted by the examination instrument. A related method of conducting an eye examination on a subject includes the step of providing a shield which is transparent to infrared wavelengths but nontransparent to visible wavelengths. The method also includes the step of carrying out the examination with an instrument which is located on the examiner facing side of the shield and which emits the infrared wavelengths to which the shield is transparent. One variant of the method determines parameters relating to the subject's eyes and/or vision using only information considered to be valid, validity being based on the subject's pupil diameter.

Method and apparatus for controlling accommodation and pupil size during an eye examination

A mobile device has a user interface, a processor, a storage, a network communication interface, a local communication interface, instructions stored in the storage that, when executed by the processor, allow the device to receive and store digital content through one of the communication interfaces, identify the digital content for queueing for printing, based upon an input received through the user interface, queueing the digital content for printing with associated printing parameters, and broadcasting a request for a printer.
