The present application discloses mixed ester terephthalate plasticizer compositions comprising: a compound of formula (I):, a compound of formula (II):, and a compound of formula (III):, wherein R1, R2, and n are defined herein. The present application also discloses resin compositions, insulation layers and cables comprising the plasticizer compositions.

Mixed ester terephthalate compositions useful as plasticizers

The present application discloses a novel plasticizer formulation comprising bis(2-(2-butoxyethoxy)ethyl) terephthalate, bis(2-ethylhexyl) terephthalate, and optionally tris(2-ethylhexyl) benzene-1,2,4-tricarboxylate. The plasticizer formulation is suitable medium to high temperature applications such as wire and cable insulation and jacketing.

Non-phthalate plasticizer blends for poly(vinyl chloride) resin compositions

Polyester compositions that provide a higher throughput in calendering processes may be prepared from a polyester having crystallization half time of at least 5 minutes, an inherent viscosity of about 0.55 to about 0.75 dL/g, a branching monomer, and a release additive. The polyester compositions show a combination of excellent melt strength with good shear response that permits higher calendering line speeds before melt fracture occurs. Also disclosed are processes for film or sheet by calendering the above compositions and the film or sheet produced therefrom. The polyester compositions, film, or sheet also may include plasticizers and/or flame retardants to increase their flexibility and enable their use in commercial applications requiring flame resistance. The film and sheet have excellent appearance and can be used in a wide range of decorative and packaging applications.

Polyester compositions for calendering

A film or sheet having a glass transition temperature below about 23&#xb0; C. and a melting temperature greater than about 120&#xb0; C. is prepared by first preparing a polyester composition of about 50 to about 95 weight percent of a base copolyester having a melting temperature of less than about 220&#xb0; C. and exhibiting more than about 1 percent crystallinity after annealing for 2000 minutes at a temperature of which the base copolyester has a maximum crystallization rate; and about 5 to about 50 weight percent of a plasticizer suitable for use with the base copolyester. The polyester composition is formed into a film or sheet. During formation of the film or sheet or afterwards, crystallization is induced to provide a soft and flexible film or sheet.

Films prepared from plasticized polyesters

Polyester containers having a reduced coefficient of friction ('COF') are produced by increasing the surface roughness of the polyester using either thermal crystallization or solvent crystallization. Because the low COF reduces or eliminates friction between polyester containers, the containers do not become entangled and disrupt the manufacturing process. As a result, the containers move easily through typical conveying and filling lines in manufacturing processes that use the containers.

Polyester containers having a reduced coefficient of friction

A method for reducing or eliminating plate-out during the process used to produce stretch blow molded containers from polyester preforms by crystallizing the low molecular weight polyester molecules in or on the preform exterior surface before stretch blow molding the preform into a container. The molecules are crystallized using a crystallization process selected from (1) treating the outer surface of the preform with a solvent that is capable of crystallizing low molecular weight polyester molecules in polyester or (2) heating the outer surface of the preform to a temperature and for a time suitable for crystallizing low molecular weight polyester molecules in polyester. Plate-out is reduced because the crystallized molecules do not migrate out of the preform and form plate-out deposits on the mold.

Method for reducing plate-out in a stretch blow molded container

A calendered film or sheet of a polyester resin composition has a haze value of less than 5 percent. The polyester resin composition comprises a polyester having a crystallization half-time from a molten state of at least 5 minutes and an additive comprising (i) a fatty acid or a salt of a fatty acid containing more than 18 carbon atoms and (ii) an ester wax comprising a fatty acid containing more than 18 carbon atoms with an alcohol containing from 2 to 28 carbon atoms, wherein the ratio of the fatty acid or salt of the fatty acid to the ester wax is 1:1 or greater. Also, the present invention is a process for producing such calendered film or sheet having a haze value of less than 5 percent. The steps of the process comprise (1) calendering such polyester resin composition, (2) forming on a calendering roll a film or sheet from such polyester resin composition, and (3) removing the film or sheet from the calendering roll at an angle of less than 90&deg; to form a film or sheet having a haze value of less than 5 percent.

Calendered polyester films or sheets having a haze value of less than five percent

Coated articles having improved chemical resistance comprising an article formed from a moldable polymer coated on at least one surface with a coating composition comprising at least one vinyl ether oligomer compound, and at least one photoinitiator are disclosed. Coatings which also contain at least one acrylate compound and/or at least one epoxy compound are also disclosed. The articles are preferably made from polyesters. Methods for coating such articles are also disclosed.
