A terminal includes a first connection section having a first connection central axis extending centrally though the first connection section along a longitudinal direction and a shoulder having a first surface extending normal to the longitudinal direction at an end of the first connection section. The shoulder has a width greater than the first connection section in a width direction perpendicular to the longitudinal direction and has a shoulder central axis extending centrally though the shoulder along the longitudinal direction. The shoulder central axis is offset from the first connection central axis in the width direction.

An electrical connector assembly having a housing and a terminal alignment and protection plate. A mating surface of the housing has terminal alignment member receiving channels. The terminal alignment member receiving channels have first retention projections and second retention projections which extend into the terminal alignment member receiving channels. Rigid support members extend from a first surface of the terminal alignment and protection plate in a direction away from a second surface. The support members extend perpendicular to a planar portion of the terminal alignment and protection plate. The support members have flexible support beams which extend between the support members. The flexible support beams extend essentially parallel to the planar portion of the terminal alignment and protection plate.

An assembly having an electrical connector and a modular housing. The cooperation of positioning projections of the modular housing with stabilizing sections of the electrical connector provides a stable and precise mating between the electrical connector and the modular housing in four directions which are perpendicular to the plane of insertion of the electrical connector into the modular housing. The cooperation of latches of the electrical connector with latch receiving recesses of the modular housing provides a stable and precise mating between the electrical connector and the modular housing in two directions which are in line with the plane of insertion.

An electrical contact and a connector assembly for housing the contact. The electrical contact has a first mating section, a transition section, a securing section. The first mating section extends in a plane which is substantially parallel to a plane of the securing section. The transition section extends in a plane which is substantially perpendicular to the plane of the first mounting section. The first mating section has a mating contact engaging portion and a seal receiving portion. A seal retention projection extends from the seal receiving portion. A peripheral seal is provided on the seal receiving portion of the first mating section of the electrical contact. The housing includes a contact receiving area and a connector mating area. A wall is provided between the contact receiving area and the connector mating area. The wall has a contact receiving opening which extends through the wall.

An electrical connector having a housing having a pin plate holder and a pin block holder. The pin block holder has a pin block holder stabilizing section. The pin plate holder has a pin plate holder stabilizing portion. With the pin block holder and the pin plate holder fully mated, the pin block holder stabilizing section engages the pin plate holder stabilizing portion to prevent the movement of the pin plate holder relative to the pin block holder in multiple directions.

An electrical connector with biased latch and method. The electrical connector has a housing and a latch which extends from the housing. The latch has a latching region and a biasing region. The latching region has a latching projection with a reference surface. The biasing region has a biasing member. The cooperation of the biasing member with a mating electrical connector and the reference surface with the mating electrical connector prevents the unwanted movement of the electrical connector relative to the mating electrical connector.
