A method for coupling a tube to a tube fitting includes radially outwardly expanding a tubular compression collar from a constricted state to an expanded state, the compression collar having a throughway extending there through and being made of a resiliently flexible material. An end of the tube is inserted within the throughway of the expanded compression collar, the tube bounding a passage. A tube fitting is inserted within the passage of the tube. The compression collar is allowed to resiliently rebound back towards the constricted state so that the compression collar pushes the tube against the tube fitting.

A barrier includes recycled rubber portions molded around a core infrastructure. The core infrastructure may itself include recycled rubber in a containment body. The containment body may include baled recycled or other waste material. The barriers may be stacked or connected to form a barrier structure useful in environmental control and other applications. The method for making the barriers includes molding rubber portions and a binder around a core infrastructure.

A method includes deploying an optical fiber attached to a distributed acoustic sensing (DAS) interrogator in a wellbore, pre-setting gauge length of the DAS interrogator based on an expected measurement signal, interrogating the optical fiber using the DAS interrogator, receiving reflected DAS signals along a length of the optical fiber using the pre-set gauge length, performing an analysis to estimate a location and a magnitude of a strain source associated with the reflected DAS signals, and dynamically adjusting the gauge length for at least a portion of the optical fiber within a pre-defined limit of the DAS interrogator as a function of the estimated location and magnitude of the strain source to enhance sensitivity and to optimize signal-to-noise ratio.

A coupling assembly includes: a tubular compression collar having a tubular body made of a resiliently flexible polymeric material and having an interior surface and an opposing exterior surface; an end of a tube disposed within a throughway of the compression collar; and a tube fitting disposed within the passageway of the tube. The tube fitting includes: a tubular stem; a flange radially outwardly projecting from an exterior surface of the stem; and an annular barb encircling and radially outwardly projecting from the exterior surface of the stem, the annular barb including a frustoconical outside face that extends along and outwardly slopes away from the stem as the outside face extends toward the flange. The compression collar radially inwardly compresses the tube against the annular barb of the tube fitting so that a liquid tight seal is formed between the tube and the tube fitting.

A catheter assembly may include a catheter adapter, a septum housing, and a septum. The catheter adapter may include a distal end, a proximal end, an inner wall extending between the distal end and the proximal end, and a lumen formed by the inner wall. The system can receive real strain data from the strain measurement device for the geological formation. The system can perform an inversion to determine a probable distribution of fluid volume and hydraulic fracture orientation in the geological formation based on the estimated strain data and real strain data. The system can determine adjustments for a fracturing operation based on the inversion.

Determining fluid distribution and hydraulic fracture orientation in a geological formation

A system can calculate estimated strain data for a fracture in a geological formation at each of a plurality of selected locations detectable by a strain measurement device. The system can receive real strain data from the strain measurement device for the geological formation. The system can perform a linear inversion to determine a probable distribution of fluid volume and hydraulic fracture orientation in the geological formation based on the estimated strain data and real strain data. The system can determine adjustments for a fracturing operation based on the linear inversion.

A self-slitting open lumen cannula may be used with catheter adapters to reduce manufacturing complexity and costs, as well as improve the safety of the catheter adapters against fluid leakage. The open lumen cannula may also include one or more notches to facilitate flashback visualization. The catheter adapters may further include a catheter adapter body formed of a compliant material that houses one or more compression resistant septa with at least one lumen formed by the proximal end of the needle during a self-slitting process as the catheter adapter is assembled. The compression resistant septum may also be coupled to a compression cap that imparts a radial compression force on the one or more compression resistant septa such that the at least one lumen narrows and seals when the cannula is removed.

Treatment fluid may be injected into a wellbore of a geological formation to stimulate fracturing of the geological formation. A plurality of measurements may be received from one or more sensors on a surface of the geological formation or downhole which measures an indication of change of the geological formation based on the stimulation. A fracture configuration of a fracture in the geological formation may be determined based on an Kalman gain and the plurality of measurement data. Injection of the treatment fluid into the wellbore may be adjusted based on the fracture configuration.

An illustrative fracture mapping system includes: a data acquisition unit collecting measurements deformation measurements during a fluid injection phase of a hydraulic fracturing operation; and a processing system implementing a formation mapping method. The formation mapping method includes: obtaining an initial fracture map having a location and geometry for one or more fractures activated during the fluid injection phase, the fracture map corresponding to a given time during the hydraulic fracturing operation; deriving from the initial fracture map a time series of fracture maps for times preceding the given time; and storing the time series on a nonvolatile information storage medium. The deriving may be performed in an iterative fashion to obtain each fracture map in the time series from a subsequent fracture map.
