A system for determining the relative displacement of a rigid object is described herein. In one embodiment, the system includes three data sources positioned on an object. The data sources are configured to transmit data relating to positional displacement of the object. Each data source has predefined movement parameters based on the position of each data source on the object. In one embodiment, the system further includes a receiver unit configured to display positional information relating to the object based on the data received from each data source. The positional information represents a single valid solution set generated in part by eliminating positional movements that exceed the predefined movement parameters.

Position determining apparatus and related method

A non-lethal method and devices for dispersing nuisance birds from a preselected area. Such nuisance birds disrupt many activities such as the steady flow of safely moving aircraft on runways and adjacent thereto, growing crops on farmland, playing golf and the use of the interior of large open buildings. The present method utilizes a series of bright light sources that are positioned adjacent the area from which the birds are to be dispersed. The light sources are activated to produce one or more beams of bright light that are moved in such a manner to produce a pattern of bright light in the vicinity of the birds to be dispersed. This action causes the birds to become sufficiently startled and disoriented so as to disperse these nuisance birds from the area to be cleared.

Non-lethal visual bird dispersal system

A method and apparatus utilizing a series of optical components and systems which effectively detect and locate electromagnetic imaging or detection systems or devices, such as cameras and passive infrared detectors. A light source is arranged in a specially-prescribed manner, and is used in conjunction with imaging optics to illuminate an area. Any electromagnetic imaging or detection system in the illuminated area is detected with either the user's eye directly, or with detection optics to determine the existence of such electromagnetic imaging or detection system.

Method and apparatus for locating electromagnetic imaging and detection systems/devices

A shield in combination with a plurality of high-brightness light sources used for riot, capture or other control of individuals. The light array utilizes a plurality of high-brightness light sources to provide a broad-area, high-intensity light for visual countermeasures. By providing a sudden burst of very bright light to surprise a subject and cause the subject to look away or close his or her eyes, the overseer, such as a police officer, can cause sufficient distraction to effectively capture or control the subject without harm.

Riot or capture shield with integrated broad-area, high-intensity light array

A self-contained non-lethal security device for providing an optimally effective and eye-safe beam for use as a high-brightness visual countermeasure. The security device has one or more wavelengths of laser or light-emitting diode (LED) light in a continuous or flicker mode in order to provide a glare or flashblinding visual effect. A flicker mode of two wavelengths at opposite ends of the visible spectrum (e.g., red and green) produces heightened disorientation to the adversary. Replacing one or all of the laser light source with LEDs for shorter range applications reduces the overall cost of such a security device.

Enhanced non-lethal visual security device

A self-contained laser illuminator module for primary use in a laser security device which is adapted to produce an optimally effective and eye-safe laser beam for use as a laser visual countermeasure. The laser illuminator module includes control electronics having a high-power laser adapted to generate a preselected wavelength and intensity, a fiber optic means in optical communication with the control electronics, and a means for mounting to a security device having a collimating lens. The present invention generates a laser beam to illuminate or create temporary visual impairment of a potential adversary which results in hesitation, delay, distraction, surrender or retreat.

Self-contained laser illuminator module

A system for characterizing contamination or integrity information from within a pipe, including a flexible tubular membrane which is extendable within the pipe and inflatable to a diameter effective to urge the tubular membrane against the rigid wall. The tubular membrane has a first end and a second end, and is initially rolled up and connected to a reel inside of a deployment system. A tether connects the deployment system to a characterization tool retained within the tubular membrane, which is attached adjacent to the second end of the tubular membrane. When the system is engaged, pressurized fluid enters the tubular membrane causing the membrane to invert and distend into and through the pipe's interior. Simultaneously, the attached characterization tool is towed adjacent to and in parallel with the path of the tubular membrane's second end, is protected from contamination by the surrounding tubular membrane, and is capable of repetitive testing for several forms of information, such as structural integrity of the pipe's interior or radioactive contamination. As the tool traverses the pipe's interior, this information is transmitted to a data acquisition system. When the system is disengaged, the deployment system, the tether and the characterization tool are used to retrieve the system in reverse order. A vent is provided for equalizing pressure beneath the tubular membrane while retracting the membrane.
