The invention features a seal assembly for a high pressure liquid system. The seal assembly includes a seal carrier having abuse portion defining a proximal end, a distal end, and a bore. The seal carrier also includes a seal disposed within the bore of the seal carrier. The seal carrier also includes a backup ring disposed within the bore of the seal carrier. The seal carrier also includes a hoop ring disposed substantially between the seal and the backup ring, the hoop ring having a proximal surface and an outer surface.

A cleaning tool scraps away undesirable slag which has accumulated on opposite sides of the slat of a worktable. The cleaning tool has a pair of cleaning assemblies each comprising a scraping tool. The scraping tools are positioned on opposite sides of a slat for simultaneously cleaning of the two sides of the slat. A single motor rotates both of the scraping tools. A biasing member retains the two scraping tools in close proximity to the slat as it is claimed.

An orifice assembly for a liquid jet cutting system includes a generally cylindrical base, an orifice member, and an orifice cap. The base includes a conduit that extends through a central axis from a top surface to a bottom surface of the base. The base also includes a pedestal that defines a protrusion from the top surface, the pedestal having a planar top region substantially parallel to the planar bottom region of the base. The orifice member sits on the planar top region of the pedestal. The orifice member defines an intermediate conduit therethrough, the intermediate conduit in fluid communication with the base conduit. The orifice cap defines an upper conduit therethrough, the upper conduit in fluid communication with the intermediate conduit of the orifice member. The orifice cap is configured to secure the orifice member to the pedestal.

A consumable component of a liquid jet cutting system is provided. The consumable component includes a body defining a conduit for a liquid jet and a signal device located on or within the body for transmitting a signal associated with the consumable component to a reader.

Identifying liquid jet cutting system components

A cushioning means for an intensifier for delivering ultra high pressure water to the cutting head of a water jet cutting apparatus. The intensifier has a power piston and cylinder assembly connected to secondary fluid pumping piston members which extend into pumping chambers located at opposite ends of the hydraulic piston and cylinder assembly, and in a common housing. Inlet poppet valves located in the pumping chambers control the flow of water from inlet passage into the pumping chambers while outlet poppet valves allow ultra high pressure water to be pumped out of the pumping chamber into an accumulator fluidly connected to the cutting head. Hydraulic fluid under pressure is sequentially directed to opposite ends of the piston and cylinder assembly, with the piston and cylinder assembly being provided with cushioning means to assist in smooth deceleration of the piston during each stroke or cycle. The piston is provided with a controlled contour which is capable of providing improved smooth deceleration for the piston as it approaches the stroke limit. Additionally, a solenoid actuated reversing valve is provided to further monitor and control the reciprocating action of the piston and cylinder assembly.

Fluid cushioning apparatus for hydraulic intensifier assembly

An intensifier for delivering ultra high pressure water to a cutting head of a water jet cutting apparatus. The intensifier has a power piston and cylinder assembly connected to piston members extended into pumping chambers in housing located at opposite ends of the piston and cylinder assembly. Inlet poppet valves located in the pumping chambers control the flow of water from inlet passages into the pumping chambers. Outlet poppet valves allow ultra high pressure water to be pumped out of the pumping chamber into an accumulator fluidly connected to the cutting head. Hydraulic fluid under pressure is sequentially directed to opposite ends of the piston and cylinder assembly with a solenoid operated reversing valve. Limit switches operable in response to movement of the piston members control the reversing valve. Linear motion transfer mechanisms are moved with ramps on the piston members to actuate the limit switches to control the reciprocating action of the piston and cylinder assembly.

Intensifier

An ultra high pressure water tool has a nozzle assembly equipped with a fan tip that discharges a relatively flat stream of ultra high pressure water to a surface to remove coatings and flashings. The fan tip has a body containing an elongated passage and a layer of super hard material having an elongated discharge orifice open to the passage.

Ultra high pressure water cleaning tool

A cutting head for a water jet cutting machine has a body removably supporting a holder with an orifice element, and insert with a chamber, and a nozzle having a passage in alignment with the water flow path through the head. The holder has a cone shaped surface that fits into a complimentary shaped cone recess to align the aperture of the orifice element with the axis of a water inlet chamber. The insert is retained within a transverse bore in the body to align its chamber with the axis of the aperture. A griping collet holds the nozzle on the body and aligns the passage of the nozzle with the axis of the aperture so that aperture, insert chamber, and the passage of the nozzle are linearly aligned with each other to form the water flow path through the nozzle.
