A membrane removing instrument comprising a surgical blank having a surgical blank distal end and a surgical blank proximal end, the surgical blank configured for being at least partially disposed in a hypodermic tube wherein the surgical blank has dimensions configured for performing ophthalmic surgical procedures, and at least one micro-pick proximate to the surgical blank distal end, the micro-pick being configured to engage and incise an ophthalmic membrane and form a membrane flap.

A reusable instrument handle with single-use tip may include an instrument tip and an instrument handle. The instrument tip may include an outer base, a nosecone, a pressure mechanism, a hypodermic tube, a blank, a fixation mechanism, and a tip cover. The instrument handle may include an actuation structure, a fixation mechanism receptacle, and an instrument tip housing. The fixation mechanism and the fixation mechanism receptacle may be configured to temporarily fix the instrument tip in the instrument tip housing. A compression of the actuation structure may be configured to actuate the hypodermic tube relative to the blank. The instrument tip may be removed from the instrument tip housing after use by removing the fixation mechanism from the fixation mechanism receptacle.

A membrane aggregating forceps may include a blank, a membrane aggregating forceps tip of the blank, a hypodermic tube, and an actuation structure. The blank may be disposed in the hypodermic tube and the actuation structure wherein a compression of the actuation structure is configured to close the membrane aggregating forceps tip and wherein a decompression of the actuation structure is configured to open the membrane aggregating forceps tip. The membrane aggregating forceps tip may include a first membrane aggregating forceps jaw having a first curved medial projection and a second membrane aggregating forceps jaw having a second curved medial projection. The first curved medial projection may include a first membrane socket, a first membrane aggregating fillet, and a first blunt edge. The second curved medial projection may include a second membrane socket, a second membrane aggregating filled, and a second blunt edge.

Surgical instrument subcomponent integration by additive manufacturing may include identifying at least two subcomponents of a multi-component assembly wherein a first subcomponent of the at least two subcomponents has a first functionality and wherein the first subcomponent of the at least two subcomponents is manufactured from a first material having a first set of material properties. Surgical instrument subcomponent integration by additive manufacturing may include modifying one or more properties of the first subcomponent of the at least two subcomponents to reproduce the first functionality when the first subcomponent is manufactured from a second material having a second set of material properties. Surgical instrument subcomponent integration by additive manufacturing may comprise integrating the at least two subcomponents by manufacturing an integral component by additive manufacturing wherein the integral component is manufactured from the second material and wherein the first functionality is retained.

A laser probe with replaceable optic fibers may include a handle, an optic fiber fixture, and a replaceable optic fiber. The replaceable optic fiber may include an optic fiber having an optic fiber distal end and an optic fiber proximal end. The optic fiber may be disposed in a first transitory connector having a first transitory connector distal end and a first transitory connector proximal end wherein the optic fiber distal end extends a fixed distance from the transitory connector distal end. The optic fiber may be disposed in a second transitory connector having a second transitory connector distal end and a second transitory connector proximal end wherein the optic fiber proximal end extends a fixed distance from the second transitory connector distal end. The first transitory connector may be inserted in the handle and the second transitory connector may be inserted in the optic fiber fixture.
