An article comprising a tube having a length L, a width W and a height H, wherein the tube has peripheral areas comprising an upper section, a lower section, an inner section, and an outer section, and the tube comprises a tube wall having an inner layer and an outer layer, the inner layer being a nonwoven fabric and the outer layer being a semipermeable membrane that is permeable to vapors but impermeable to liquids, wherein the tube has at least one inlet port integrated into the tube wall to permit the flow of fluid into the tube interior, wherein the tube has a through-thickness Gurley air permeability of from 1 to 2,000 seconds, and the tube has a tensile modulus in the L direction of from 300 to 450 MPa and from 200 to 320 MPa in the W direction, and wherein the upper section and/or the lower section of the tube has at least one slot in the outer layer extending at least partially along the length L of tube and centered in said upper and/or lower section, and wherein the inner layer forms the outer surface of the tube in that at least one slot.

A composition having at least one first component containing a perfluorinated aliphatic structure in which no more than six fluorine bearing carbons are connected in any single straight chain segment, in addition a group providing binding functionality to a surface to be treated or containing at least one polymerisable double bond or containing at least one cross-linkable group, and in addition a divalent radical containing at least one group capable of forming polar interactions or hydrogen bonds, and at least one second component containing a perfluorinated aliphatic structure in which no more than six fluorine bearing carbons are connected in any single straight chain segment and a moiety containing at least one group providing binding functionality to a surface to be treated or containing at least one polymerisable double bond or containing at least one cross-linkable group.

Compositions for surface treatments

A system and overshoe for dissipating charge from a human body standing on a surface and wearing the system. The overshoe further contains a sole and an overshoe body that is attached to the edge of the sole such that the sole has an inner surface that faces the overshoe side and an outer surface that is exterior to the overshoe. A conductive strip is folded around at least a portion of the edge of the sole and bonded to the sole by a first adhesive such that at least a portion of the conductive strip is exposed to the inner surface of the sole. A tape covers the seam between the conductive strip and the sole on an exterior portion of the overshoe and that is adhesively bonded to the seam by a second adhesive such that at least a portion of the conductive strip is exposed to the surface that the human body is standing on. The portion that is exposed to the surface that the human body is standing on is sufficient in area to yield a resistance of in the range of &#x3e;10to &#x3c;10Ohm when measured between the hands of the human body and the surface.

Dissipative system for safety garments

A composite sheet comprises a substrate and a multi-layer coating on its outer surface, the coating comprising a metal layer and an outer polymeric layer formed from a precursor comprising a polymerizable composition that includes an olefin group and a moisture curable group, such as an isocyanate or silane group. The function of the polymeric layer includes protecting the metal layer from corrosion. A production process for the composite sheet includes depositing the precursor and exposing it to both beam radiation and moisture, which respectively promote polymerization and curing at different sites of the precursor. The amenability of the isocyanate or silane functionality to moisture-promoted coupling promotes substantially full conversion and curing of the precursor, even of portions of the substrate that are geometrically shadowed from incident beam radiation.

Method for producing metalized fibrous composite sheet with olefin coating

A composite sheet is manufactured by depositing a multi-layer coating on the outer surface of a substrate, the coating comprising a metal layer and an outer polymeric layer formed from a precursor comprising a composition capable of being polymerized and/or cross-linked by free-radical processes. After the precursor is applied, the composite sheet is exposed to beam radiation and ozone, which both promote conversion of the precursor. The function of the cured polymeric layer includes protecting the metal layer from corrosion. The use of both beam radiation and ozone promotes substantially full conversion and curing of the precursor, even in portions of the substrate that are geometrically shadowed from incident beam radiation.
