One aspect of the present invention includes a bi-phase communication receiver system. The system includes an analog-to-digital converter (ADC) configured to sample a bi-phase modulation signal to generate digital samples of the bi-phase modulation signal. The system also includes a bi-phase signal decoder configured to decode the bi-phase modulation signal based on the digital samples. The system further includes a preamble detector comprising a digital filter configured to evaluate the digital samples to generate an output and to detect a preamble of the bi-phase modulation signal for decoding the bi-phase modulation signal based on the output.

Bi-phase communication demodulation techniques

In an example, an integrated circuit includes a communication and control unit. The communication and control unit controls an inverter that applies an alternating current output signal to a transmission coil for reception by a receiver. The communication and control unit causes the inverter to provide a first and second transmit powers to the transmission coil, and the communication unit receives a first and second power received signals from the receiver in response to the first and second transmit powers. The communication and control unit determines a first gain and offset using the first transmit power, the first power. When a third transmit power greater than the second transmit power is transmitted by the transmission coil, the communication and control unit determines a second gain and a second offset using the first transmit power, the first power received signal, the third transmit power and a third power received signal.

Methods and apparatus for power loss calibration in a wireless power system

A wireless power transmitter includes an analog-to-digital converter (ADC) and a controller. The ADC is configured to convert an analog signal associated with a power train to digital values. The controller is configured to cause pulses to be applied to the power train to thereby cause the power train to ring, receive digital values from the ADC acquired while the power train is ringing and after the pulses complete, and, based on an analysis of the digital values of the ringing of the power train, to determine whether a wireless power receiver is present on or near the wireless power transmitter or whether a foreign object is present on the transmitter.

Wireless power receiver and/or foreign object detection by a wireless power transmitter

The systems and methods of detecting a change in object presence in a magnetic field disclosed herein inject a low amplitude signal near the resonant frequency into the coil until the system comes to equilibrium. At this point the feedback is measured. The feedback signal can be measured as at least one of several signals, for example, but not limited to the voltage on the resonant capacitor, the current in the coil, and the voltage between the resonant capacitor and the coil. A change in the steady state response indicates a change in device presence.

A system for wireless power transfer is provided. The system includes a monitoring function to monitor control parameters and an input source that supplies power to a wireless power transmitter, wherein the wireless power transmitter operates with a wireless power receiver to supply a charging current to a load. A controller can be configured to receive the control parameters from the monitoring function and to control an adjustable operating point for the wireless power transmitter which controls the charging current delivered to the load via the wireless power receiver, wherein the controller commands a maximum power operating point for the wireless power transmitter when the input source is detected at or above a predetermined threshold and commands a reduced power operating point for the wireless power transmitter when the input source to the wireless power transmitter is detected below the predetermined threshold.

Adaptive wireless power transfer system and method

Example embodiments of the systems and methods of reduction of parasitic losses in a wireless power system disclosed herein provide a practical means of accurately estimating parasitic losses in a wireless power transfer system irrespective of coupling. Such systems and methods may be used to generate an equation which predicts parasitic losses in a wireless power system. In an offset case, in which the transmitter and receiver are not directly coupled, losses associated with the recirculating current in the primary LC tank dominate the loss, and the transmitted power may be better estimated by measuring the power inputs, power outputs, and injected losses in a controlled environment; making a mathematical fit to an equation, which from the various power measurements and injected loss, predicts the expected transmitter losses; and then, in an operational environment, using the equation to predict parasitic losses based on the power inputs, power outputs and expected loss equation.

Systems and methods of reduction of parasitic losses in a wireless power system

Systems and methods of wireless power transfer system with interference detection disclosed herein detects possible excessive energy transfer associated with parasitic metal objects placed in close proximity with system coils by comparing power received on the receiving side of the system with the power consumed on the primary side considering known losses in the system. If the result of such comparison shows that power consumed on the primary side substantially exceeds power received on the secondary side, the system may terminate operation.

Systems and methods of wireless power transfer with interference detection

A wireless power system and method are provided that employ a hybrid approach to adjusting transmission power to take advantages of the best features of frequency mode adjusting and duty cycle mode adjusting. The wireless system and method attempt to modify duty cycle as a first adjustment, unless the duty cycle adjustment causes the duty cycle to be outside a predefined range. If the duty cycle adjustment causes the duty cycle to be outside a predefined range, the wireless system and method employ frequency mode adjusting to adjust transmission power.

A method for improving the alignment of the bi-directional scan lines of a resonant mirror imaging system is disclosed. The method includes sensing the position of the mirror and selecting a portion of each scan line, such as the exact middle 50% and the start points of the scan lines in both directions for displaying the image. Determine the specific number of pixels used to modulate the scan lines and the clocking rate at which the pixels are inserted on the light beam so that the pixels completely fill the selected portion of the scan lines. The clock rate is then adjusted to the determined rate.

Method to improve scan-line alignment by adjusting the pixel rate

Various systems and methods for LCD backlight control are disclosed herein. For example, some embodiments of the present invention provide an LCD backlight circuit with an analog inverter circuit that provides a drive voltage to a lamp. A current traversing the lamp is sensed and provided to a digital control circuit. Based on the sensed current, the digital control circuit generates a control signal that is fed back to the analog inverter circuit. In some cases, the digital control circuit is used to cause a gradual increase in voltage applied to the lamp to achieve ignition of the lamp. In other cases, the digital control is used to provide a pre-distorted sine wave that attenuates one or more harmonics introduced into the system by the non-linearities of the lamp.

Systems and methods for backlight driving

One embodiment of the present invention includes a decoder system that decodes a bi-phase modulated signal to generate an output code. The system includes a first filter associated with a first logic state configured to generate a first dot product of a plurality of consecutive digital samples of the bi-phase modulated signal and a respective plurality of tap weights of the first filter. The system also includes a second filter associated with a second logic state configured to generate a second dot product of the plurality of consecutive digital samples of the bi-phase modulated signal with a respective plurality of tap weights of the second filter. The system further includes a comparator configured to compare the first and second dot products and to provide the output code as a bit having one of the first logic state and the second logic state based on the comparison.

System and method for bi-phase modulation decoding

One embodiment of the present invention includes an analog-to-digital converter (ADC) system. The system includes an ADC configured to generate digital samples that are digital versions of at least one analog signal at a sampling frequency and a memory configured to store data corresponding to an average value of the digital samples in at least one register. The system further includes a processor configured to access the data corresponding to the average value for processing at an access frequency that is less than the sampling frequency.

System and method for synchronizing the low speed mirror movement of a mirror display system with incoming frame or video signals, and synchronizing buffered lines of video data to the independently oscillating scanning mirror. According to one embodiment of the invention, the peak portions of the low speed cyclic drive signal are synchronized with the incoming frames of video by compressing or expanding the peak portion or turn around portion so that each video frame begins at the same location on the display screen. The actual position of the high frequency mirror is determined by sensors and a 'trigger' signal is generated to distribute the signals for each scan line such that the scan lines are properly positioned on the display.
