A throttle body assembly for a combustion engine includes a throttle body having a pressure chamber including a supply of liquid fuel, and a throttle bore with an inlet through which air is received. A throttle valve is carried by the throttle body with a valve head movable relative to the throttle bore. A metering valve is coupled to the throttle body, and has a valve element that is movable between open and closed positions. A boost venturi is located in the throttle bore and has an inner passage that is open at both ends to the throttle bore. The boost venturi has an opening through which fuel flows into the inner passage when the valve element is in the open position, wherein fuel flows from the pressure chamber to the metering valve under the force of gravity or under a pressure of less than 6 psi.

Low pressure fuel and air charge forming device for a combustion engine

In at least some implementations, a throttle body assembly for a combustion engine includes a throttle body having a pressure chamber in which a supply of fuel is received and a throttle bore with an inlet through which air is received, a throttle valve carried by the throttle body with a valve head movable relative to the throttle bore to control fluid flow through the throttle bore, and a metering valve carried by the throttle body. The metering valve may have a valve element that is movable between an open position wherein fuel may flow from the pressure chamber into the throttle bore and a closed position where fuel is prevented or substantially prevented from flowing into the throttle bore through the metering valve.

In at least some implementations, a throttle body assembly includes a body that has multiple throttle bores, multiple throttle valve heads received one in each of the throttle bores, at least one throttle valve shaft to which the throttle valve heads are coupled, and at least one of a fuel metering valve and a vapor separator carried by the body.

Low pressure fuel injection system for a multi-cylinder light-duty internal combustion engine

In at least some implementations, a charge forming device includes a main body, a throttle valve and an adjuster. The main body includes a main bore through which fluid flows for delivery to an engine. The throttle valve is carried by the main body and moveable relative to the main bore to control fluid flow through the main bore. And the adjuster is moveable relative to the throttle valve and engageable with the throttle valve to adjust the range of motion of the throttle valve. In at least some implementations, the adjuster limits the range of motion of the throttle valve when the adjuster is engaged with the throttle valve.

An engine system may include a fuel and air supply circuit and an exhaust circuit, a temperature sensor mounted on an exterior of the engine and an oxygen sensor located in the exhaust circuit. The fuel and air supply circuit may include a throttle body mounted on the engine and having a throttle valve to control the flow rate of air delivered to the engine, a fuel injector carried by the throttle body to deliver fuel to the engine and a fuel rail carried by at least one of the throttle body and the fuel injector and having an input to receive a supply of fuel and an outlet through which fuel is routed to the fuel injector. An engine control unit may be communicated with these components to control the fuel and air mixture provided to the engine as a function of the temperature and oxygen sensor outputs.

A rotary position sensor for determining the rotary position of a rotary component may include a sensor and a magnet. The sensor may be responsive to a characteristic of a magnetic field that changes as the magnetic field moves. The magnet may be carried by the rotary component for rotation with the rotary component and have an anti-rotation feature to prevent rotation of the magnet relative to the rotary component to maintain a desired rotary position of the magnet.

An adjustment limiting device for a carburetor including a fuel adjustment valve rotatable to adjust a supply of fuel in or delivered from the carburetor includes an adjustment limiting cap and a connector. The adjustment limiting cap is adapted to be disposed over a portion of the fuel adjustment valve and includes a rotary connection feature adapted to limit relative rotational movement between the adjustment limiting cap and the fuel adjustment valve, and a rotation limiter to limit rotational movement of the adjustment limiting cap. The connector may be carried by the adjustment limiting cap to maintain the adjustment limiting cap on the fuel adjustment valve. The connector may be concealed by the carburetor body, permit the adjustment limiting cap to be fitted onto the fuel adjustment valve, and prevent the adjustment limiting cap from being removed from the fuel adjustment limiting valve.

According to one implementation, a carburetor includes an intake bore, a throttle valve, a main fuel nozzle, an accelerator device and a fuel passage. The throttle valve is movable between an idle and wide open positions and includes a shaft rotatably supported around an axial line extending across the intake bore. The accelerator device may be operable to increase an amount of fuel that flows through the main fuel nozzle when the throttle valve is moved toward its wide open position, and may include a fuel reservoir constructed and arranged to store fuel. The fuel passage communicates with the main fuel nozzle and the fuel reservoir is provided upstream of the main fuel nozzle such that fuel flows through the fuel reservoir before being delivered to the main fuel nozzle.

Accelerator device for a carburetor

A carburetor fuel adjustment assembly includes a low speed needle valve and preferably a high speed needle valve threaded into respective receptacles of a carburetor body. Each receptacle defines an elongated cavity which intersects a fuel passage and has a valve orifice or seat. Each needle valve has a shank which threadably engages the respective receptacles and a tip that extends into the axially-aligned orifice or seat. The tip is axially movable relative to the orifice by rotation of the needle valve to control the size of the opening between the valve and orifice for fuel flow. A resilient body cooperates with the valve shank in laterally biasing the tip into a steadfast position relative to the orifice or seat. The lateral bias assures constant area for fuel flow through the orifice by resisting needle movement until a sufficient torque is intentionally applied to the needle valve.

Carburetor fuel adjustment assembly

A control system for a low cost, light duty combustion engine, where the control system generally utilizes engine speed and/or temperature input signals and independent operating sequences to determine a desired ignition timing and air-to-fuel ratio for a combustible mixture. There are several independent operating sequences, each one of which is designed to optimally control the engine under certain conditions. These operating sequences include a Cranking sequence that commences after the engine is initially turned on, a Warm Up sequence which follows the Cranking sequence, a Normal Mode sequence for typical operating conditions, an Acceleration sequence for certain increases in engine speed, a Come Down sequence for when a sufficient engine speed is followed by a certain decrease in speed, and a Recovery Bump sequence for when the engine speed dips below a predetermined level.
