The actuator (10) of a brake, such as a disc brake, is controlled by an electric motor (34) which drives a pump (38, 50, 62) ensuring that the pressure of the brake fluid in a control chamber (44) rises. A crankshaft (38) driven by the electric motor (34) imparts a to-and-fro movement to a plunger piston (50) in a pumping chamber (62). This chamber (62) communicates with a brake-fluid reservoir via an intake duct (74) controlled by way of a valve (76, 78) and with the chamber (44) via a delivery duct controlled by way of a valve (58, 60). Furthermore, the control chamber (44) communicates with the reservoir via a recycling duct (80) controlled by way of a solenoid valve (82). The entire hydraulic circuit so formed is accommodated in the body (12) of the actuator.

Electrically controlled brake actuator

The wear indicator comprises essentially a coaxial cable (4, 5) of which the conducting core (4) and the conducting sleeve (5) are connected electrically by a socket (6, 6', 6', 6'41 ). One bared end of the core (4) is disposed on a wear limit plane of a lining forming part of a friction member. A rotating member, disc or drum then cuts the end of the core when the lining reaches its permissible wear limit.

Wear indicator for a friction member of an automotive brake

Multiple disc brake comprising a first rotary disc fixed to a hub connected to a rotating member to be braked and at least one second rotary disc capable of sliding axially relative to the hub and to the first disc. A first axial guide sleeve (16) fixed to the first disc (1) is arranged coaxially relative to a second axial guide sleeve (18) fixed to the second disc (2) and is connected to this second sleeve (18) by way of several grooves (22), rolling members (27) being in contact with at least one face of these. The invention is used on multiple disc brakes for land vehicles.

Multiple disc brake

The indicator comprises a loop of an electrical conductor 2 embedded in a body 1, from which a stud 3 and a lug 4 project. The stud 3 is pushed into a hole 9 made in a support plate 5 of the friction member, and the rest of the body and the lug 4 are turned down round one edge of the plate as a result of the deformability of the body between the stud 3 and the 4. The groove formed at the end of the stud 3 makes it possible to retain the lug 4 against the support plate in order to ensure that the indicator is fastened to this plate. The invention is used on disc brakes or drum brakes for motor vehicles.

Braking device for a vehicle, comprising a mechanism for driving at least one friction member in frictional engagement with a rotary member to be braked, the mechanism comprising a wedge (28) movable in a first axis in order to shift an actuating member (14) of the brake under the effect of a force coming from an actuator (34), characterized in that the actuator (34) comprises a centrifugal assembly (34) equipped with at least two flyweights (40; 72) arranged about a second axis and intended for rotating selectively about this second axis, the rotation of the flyweights (40; 72) about the second axis causing them to move away from the latter, and a connecting assembly (36, 30; 76, 90) between the flyweights (40; 72) and the wedge (28) for converting the movement away of the flyweights (40; 72) into a movement of the wedge (28) in the first axis.

Braking device for a vehicle

The actuating device of a braking mechanism comprises an electric driving motor and a gear pinion meshing with a first gear wheel integral with a screw screwed into a nut pressing on a plunger for application of the brake. The nut 13 carries a second gear wheel 22 having number of teeth which differs very slightly from that of the first gear wheel 31, for example by one tooth, to make a drive system with this first wheel in differential translation of the nut 13.
