Described herein are methods for making alkenyl disiloxanes, comprising combining an alkenyl halosilane with an alkyl halosilane and adding the mixture to water, an acidic aqueous solution, or a basic aqueous solution. The ratio of the alkenyl halosilane to the alkyl halosilane is about 10:1 to about 1:10. The alkenyl halosilane and the alkyl halosilane are mixed at about 20° C. to about 45° C. The reaction product is separated and washed with saturated alkali carbonate solution.

Processes for synthesizing unsymmetrical disiloxanes

Curable silicone elastomer compositions having enhanced adhesive properties with respect to a wide variety of substrates are described. The compositions described herein are provided with a phenylmethylpolysiloxane based additive which comprises at least one, alternatively at least two Si—H groups per molecule and at least one, alternatively at least two epoxide functional groups per molecule. Said phenylmethylpolysiloxane based additives provide resulting elastomers with improved heat-humidity stabilization.

A method of preparing the multifunctional organosilicon compound is also provided. The method comprises reacting (A) an organosilanol compound and (B) a silane compound having at least two hydrolysable groups. A functionalized siloxane compound prepared from the multifunctional organosilicon compound, a method of preparing the functionalized siloxane compound, and an adhesive comprising the functionalized siloxane compound are also provided.

There is provided curable silicone elastomer compositions having enhanced adhesive properties with respect to a wide variety of substrates. A method for preparing functionalized polyorganosiloxanes is disclosed. The method includes 1) combining starting materials including A) a boron-containing Lewis acid catalyst, and B) an organosilicon compound having an average, per molecule of at least 1 silicon bonded groups of the formula —OR; wherein each Ris an independently selected monovalent hydrocarbon group of 1 to 6 carbon atoms, thereby forming a catalyzed mixture; and thereafter 2) adding the catalyzed mixture into a starting material including C) an organohydrogensiloxane having at least 1 silicon bonded hydrogen atom per molecule, thereby preparing a product comprising the functionalized polyorganosiloxane and a by-product comprising HR.

Provided is a silicone adhesive composition and an application thereof, that has a viscosity that enables coating even with a small amount of solvent content, has excellent curability due to hydrosilylation reaction, cures, has sufficient adhesive strength for practical use, and has excellent mechanical strength and elongation of the adhesive layer after curing, and can form a pressure-sensitive adhesive layer having sufficient adhesive strength for practical use. The adhesive composition comprises: (A) a chain-like organopolysiloxane having at least two aliphatic unsaturated carbon-carbon bond-containing groups only at the terminals of the molecular chain; (B) a straight-chain organohydrogenpolysiloxane having silicon-bonded hydrogen atoms only at both terminals of the molecular chain; (C) a resinous organopolysiloxane; and (D) an organopolysiloxane having at least one or more aliphatic unsaturated carbon-carbon bond-containing groups at locations other than the ends of the molecular chain, and having three or more aliphatic unsaturated carbon-carbon bond groups in the molecule.
