A standardized hot-pluggable transceiving unit implementing bandwidth optimization functionalities. The transceiving unit comprises a first connector receiving a signal comprising a source video payload. The transceiving unit comprises a processing unit performing a scaling of the source video payload. The scaling consists in generating a scaled video payload by applying a scaling ratio to the source video payload. The transceiving unit comprises a second connector outputting an IP flow transporting the scaled video payload. In an alternative bandwidth optimization implementation, the first connector receives a plurality of source IP flows each transporting a source video payload. The processing unit selects one among the plurality of source IP flows, and generates outbound IP packets of an outbound IP flow based on stored characteristics of the outbound IP flow. The outbound IP packets transporting the source video payload of the selected source IP flow are outputted by the second connector.

Standardized hot-pluggable transceiving unit with bandwidth optimization functionalities

First and second IP flows corresponding to a first source are received. An SDI signal corresponding to the first source is generated based on a selected one of the simultaneously received first and second flows. Reception of one of the first and second flows is stopped, and the SDI signal is generated based on the remaining one of the first and second flows. A third IP flow transporting a payload corresponding to a second source is received, and a transition performed between first and second sources. An SDI signal corresponding to the second source is generated based on the third flow. Reception of the remaining one of the first and second flows is stopped, and a fourth IP flow corresponding to the second source is received. The SDI signal corresponding to the second source is generated based on a selected one of the simultaneously received third and fourth flows.

Method for performing optimized flow switching

The present disclosure relates to a standardized hot-pluggable transceiving unit executing a web server function for controlling the transceiving unit, and a method and computer program product for controlling the transceiving unit through the web server function. The method comprises executing by a control unit in the housing of the transceiving unit a web server function, receiving via a communication interface of the transceiving unit a control command, processing the control command by the web server function, and configuring a component of the transceiving unit based on the processing of the control command. The configured component may be the control unit or a signal processing unit. The method may further comprise generating a diagnostic message by the web server function, which is transmitted to a control device via the communication interface. The diagnostic message may comprise a diagnostic of the control unit or the signal processing unit.

Standardized hot-pluggable transceiving unit and method for controlling the unit through a web server function

A standardized hot-pluggable transceiving unit comprising a housing, a board and a chipset. The housing has specific standardized dimensions and is adapted to being inserted into a chassis of a hosting unit. The board and chipset are in the housing. The board comprises at least two electro-mechanical components. The chipset also comprises at least two electro-mechanical components. Each electro-mechanical component of the chipset collaborates with a corresponding electro-mechanical component of the board for simultaneously providing a mechanical anchor and an electrical connection between the chipset and the board. The chipset further comprises a programmable processing component for processing a signal transmitted by the board via the electrical connection between the board and the chipset. For instance, the programmable processing component of the chipset comprises a coding module for encoding or decoding data having a first form into data having a second form.

Standardized hot-pluggable transceiving unit with a chipset mechanically anchored and electrically connected to a board

A standardized hot-pluggable transceiving unit comprising a housing, a connector and a processing unit. The housing has specific standardized dimensions and can be inserted into a chassis of a hosting unit. The connector receives an IP flow. The processing unit processes packets of the IP flow based on a control plane message. The control plane message is received by the connector receiving the IP flow or by another connector of the transceiving unit. The processing unit may further generate a report or an alarm related to the IP flow, for transmission by the transceiving unit. The IP flow may for example transport a video payload. A system comprising a chassis and the transceiving unit is also disclosed. The chassis comprises a processing unit capable of processing packets of IP flows. The transceiving unit is inserted into the chassis and exchanges data with the processing unit of the chassis.

Standardized hot-pluggable transceiving unit with control plane functionalities

A standardized hot-pluggable transceiving unit comprising a housing, a SDI connector, and a signal conversion module. The housing is adapted to being inserted into a chassis of a hosting unit. The SDI connector receives a SDI signal comprising a video payload and at least one other payload. The signal conversion module is in the housing, and converts the SDI signal into a first IP flow for transporting the video payload and at least one other IP flow for transporting the at least one other payload. The generated IP flows are outputted from the SFP unit by one or more connectors different from the SDI connector. The other payload can be an audio or a metadata payload. In another aspect, a transceiving unit provides for combining a plurality of IP flows each comprising a different type of payload into a SDI signal.

The present disclosure relates to a standardized hot-pluggable transceiving unit with signal encoding or decoding capabilities. The transceiving unit comprises a housing with specific standardized dimensions and adapted to being inserted into a chassis of a hosting unit. The transceiving unit comprises a first connector for receiving a first signal comprising data in a first form. The transceiving unit comprises a coding module in the housing, for encoding or decoding the data of the first signal into a second signal having a second form. The transceiving unit comprises a second connector for outputting the second signal. The transceiving unit may comprise at least one additional coding module in the housing, for encoding or decoding data.

Standardized hot-pluggable transceiving unit with signal encoding or decoding capabilities

The present disclosure relates to a connecting unit for for connecting with other connectors and/or with components. The connecting unit comprises a connector and a latch mechanism. The latch mechanism engages into a retaining member of an external component. Upon application of sufficient pressure on a disengaging part, the latch mechanism allows detaching the connecting unit from the external component.

A multicage small form-factor pluggable (SFP) unit comprises a front portion, and a plurality of cages mounted to a rearward side of the front portion. An actuator may emerge from the front portion, for disengaging the plurality of cages from a chassis upon upward movement of the actuator. One or more external connectors may be mounted to a front panel of the front portion. One or more rear connectors may be mounted to a back panel of at least one of the cages, for connecting to a backplane. At least one of the cages may comprise one or more processing modules. Various combinations of internal connections may be implemented between the external connectors if any, the rear connectors if any, and the processing modules if any. The multicage SFP unit may for example comprise two, three or four cages arranged in a horizontal row.

Small form-factor pluggable unit having a plurality of insertable cages

The present disclosure relates to devices comprising small form factor pluggable units (SFP) having connectors for receiving and sending signals and a processor for converting the received signals prior to sending the converted signals. Received or sent signals may comprise video signals in various analog or digital formats. Conversion of the received signals may comprise analog to digital or digital to analog conversion, serializing or deserializing a digital signal, frame synchronization of a video signal, and/or cross conversion of a video signal from a first format to a second format.

Small form factor pluggable unit with signal conversion capabilities

The present ejection mechanism is for a small form-factor pluggable (SFP) unit. The ejection mechanism comprises a latch, and an actuator. The latch is located on a bottom surface of a housing of the SFP unit, and maintains the SFP unit within a chassis when in an engaged position. The actuator comprises an actuating end, a pivot and a distal end. The actuating end has a part emerging from the SFP unit. Upon upward movement of the actuating end, the pivot leads a downward movement of the distal end and application of a pressure on a bottom of the SPF unit thereby disengages the SPF unit from the chassis.

Ejection mechanism and actuator for small form factor pluggable unit

The present relates to pluggable electronic unit with transmission power adjustment capability such as for example small form-factor pluggable transceivers. The pluggable electronic unit with transmission power adjustment capability may comprise a power adjustment unit. By verifying the transmitted power is sufficient or could be reduced, it is possible to regulate transmission power of a transceiver autonomously within the pluggable electronic unit itself.
