A dual filter arrangement for a vacuum cleaner for filtering particles of dust and debris from an airflow passing through the vacuum cleaner. The dual filter comprises a coarse pre-filter having an array of pores formed therein of substantially uniform diameter and a fine primary filter which is located rearwardly of the pre-filter in the direction of flow of the airflow. The dual filter is releasably latched to a main housing portion of the vacuum cleaner housing. A nose cone is removably secured to the housing and circumscribes the dual filter assembly. The dual filter enables even more efficient filtering of contaminants from dust and dirt entrained air ingested by the vacuum cleaner. Attachment of the dual filter to the main housing portion provides the additional advantage of increasing the capacity of the nose cone and eliminating the need for the user to handle the dual filter assembly when emptying contaminants collected within the nose cone. A unique seal arrangement provides a substantially airtight seal between the dual filter system and the main housing to which it is secured.

Dual filter vacuum cleaner apparatus

A sanding apparatus (1) is provided with a platen (2) formed of several layers and with a flat surface to which an abrasive sheet is attached. The platen (2) has a peripheral edge (7) with at least one point (4). A conductive means (18, 20) is provided through the layers of the platen (2) to act as a heat sink adjacent to the point (4) to remove heat from the surface point (4).

Sanding apparatus

An abrasive sheet 1 for a sanding or polishing machine, comprising a body portion 3 and a tip portion 5 providing a working point 11, the tip portion 5 being defined by a weakened region 7 between the body portion 3 and the tip portion 5, wherein the tip portion 5 can be separated from the body portion 3, turned through an angle (FIG. 2) and re-positioned adjacent the body portion 3 to change the working point 11. As a result, an iron-shaped abrasive sheet, for example, can be provided with a plurality of working points 11. The sheet can, therefore, be used for longer periods before it is worn out.

A dual function powered oscillating hand tool comprises a driven unit having an electric motor and a first drive shaft; an eccentric bearing mounted on the first drive shaft with a radial offset e relative to the first drive shaft; a second drive shaft mounted on the eccentric bearing and terminating in a flange and a drive spigot; a sanding shoe; and a location hole positioned on the backing face of the sanding shoe for location of the second drive shaft and means to restrict the random orbit of the sanding shoe to a regular orbit. A sanding apparatus (1) has a sanding platen (2) to which motion is applied. The platen (2) has a flat surface (9) to which an abrasive sheet (22) is applied. The peripheral edge (3) of the platen (2) has a point (4) which can be used for detailed sanding. The surface (9) has a detachable portion (14) adjacent the point (4). The detachable portion (14) can be removed from the remainder of the platen (2) and rotated through 180.degree.. The abrasive sheet (22) can have an area corresponding to the detachable portion (14) of the surface (9) which is removable from the remainder of the abrasive sheet (22) by means of a perforated line (24).
