Access assemblies include an instrument valve housing and a valve assembly disposed within the cavity of the instrument valve housing. The valve assembly includes a guard assembly, and a seal assembly disposed distal of the guard assembly. The seal assembly includes a support member including a ring portion and a seal portion disposed within the ring portion. The seal assembly further includes a plurality of seal sections extending from the ring portion of the support member. The support member and the plurality of seal sections are integrally formed.

Seal assemblies for surgical access assemblies

A surgical clip applier includes a handle assembly, an elongated shaft, a drive shaft, a cam pin, and an end effector. The cam pin is disposed in mechanical cooperation with the drive shaft. The end effector is disposed adjacent a distal end of the elongated shaft and includes a first jaw member and a second jaw member. The end effector is disposed in operative engagement with the drive shaft such that longitudinal translation of the drive shaft relative to the housing of the handle assembly causes the first jaw member to move toward the second jaw member. The first jaw member includes a first cam slot configured to slidingly receive the cam pin. The first cam slot defines a first portion having a first slope and a second portion having second slope.

Endoscopic surgical clip applier

Polymeric ligation clips and a clip applier for applying a polymeric ligation clip to tissue are disclosed herein. More particularly, the polymeric ligation clips include separate first and second beams that can be coupled to each other and are movable from a reduced diameter open position in which minimal strain is placed on the ligation clip to a clamped position and to a clip applier for delivering such a ligation clip to a surgical site.

A surgical access assembly includes a housing, a tubular member, and a valve assembly. The tubular member extends from the housing. The valve assembly is positioned in the housing and includes a centering mechanism, a guard assembly disposed on a first side of the centering mechanism, and an instrument seal disposed on a second side of the centering mechanism. A surgical access assembly includes a cannula, a valve housing attached to the cannula, and a valve assembly positioned in the valve housing. The valve assembly includes a centering mechanism with a hoop and fingers, a ring with a flange at one end of the ring, a retainer having first and second discs, a guard having a frame and flaps attached to the frame, and a seal with petals attached to a support. The guard is at least partially disposed in the first disc and the seal is at least partially disposed in the second disc.

A fixation device for folding a seal member includes a frame having a horizontal portion and an upright portion, a press assembly secured to the upright portion of the frame, and a nest assembly secured to the horizontal portion of the frame. The press assembly includes a handle assembly and an anvil assembly operably connected to the handle assembly. The nest assembly includes a clamping assembly, a folding assembly supported on the clamping assembly, a support assembly supported on the folding assembly, and a nest member. The support assembly includes a support plate and a seal clamp for securing a seal member.

Access assemblies includes an instrument valve housing and a valve assembly disposed within the cavity of the instrument valve housing. The valve assembly includes a guard assembly, a seal assembly disposed adjacent to the guard assembly, and a centering mechanism for maintaining the seal assembly and guard assembly centered within a cavity of the instrument valve. In embodiments, the seal assembly includes a plurality of seal sections that are movable from an unfolded configuration to folded configuration in which the seal assembly forms a hexagonal member defining an opening to facilitate sealed passage of a surgical instrument. The seal sections may include a tapered inner edge for engaging a surgical instrument inserted through the instrument valve housing.

Seals for surgical access assemblies

An access assembly includes an instrument valve housing and a valve assembly disposed within the instrument valve housing. The instrument valve housing includes upper and lower housing sections. The valve assembly includes a centering mechanism, a seal assembly, and a guard assembly. The centering mechanism is configured to bias the valve assembly towards a generally centered position within the instrument valve housing. The centering mechanism includes a base seal member having an annular base and a flange portion. The flange portion includes an arcuate portion configured to adjustably engage first and second surfaces of the instrument valve housing in a sealing relation. The seal assembly is attachable to the centering mechanism. The seal assembly is configured to engage a surgical instrument inserted into the access assembly in a sealing relation. The guard assembly is attachable to the centering mechanism.

A specimen retrieval device includes a tubular body, an inner shaft slidably positioned within a longitudinal bore of the tubular body, and a specimen bag supported on the distal portion of the inner shaft. In embodiments, the tubular body tubular body is formed of a lubricious material. The specimen bag is formed from a pattern and welded by a radiofrequency welder. The specimen bag includes a tail section through which the inner shaft passes, and the tail section may be attached to a handle at a proximal portion of the inner shaft.

A ligation clip loading device includes a cannula including a cannula body and an instrument lumen extending through a longitudinal axis of the cannula body, and a stack of ligation clips axially arranged about the instrument lumen. The ligation clips are accessible through a series of slots allowing for loading of an endoscopic clip applier with the ligation clips within a body cavity, such as an intra-abdominal cavity.

The seal assembly includes a proximal seal member, an intermediate seal assembly, and a distal seal member, the intermediate seal assembly including a plurality of seal sections in a stacked configuration.

A monitoring system includes a mounting assembly for securing a recording device relative to a cannula assembly. The mounting assembly includes a cradle member configured to releasably retain the recording device and a support member including an elongate body. The elongate body has first and second ends. The first end includes a connecting portion for connecting the cradle member to the support member and the second end includes an engaging portion for securing the support member to the cannula assembly.
