The disclosed method may include (1) determining a current physical state regarding an antenna assembly that includes (a) a sub-reflector that receives a wireless signal and reflects the wireless signal to a feed structure for processing, (b) a continuous antenna reflector that receives the wireless signal at a reflecting surface that reflects the wireless signal to the sub-reflector, where the current physical state is indicative of a current surface error over the reflecting surface relative to the sub-reflector, and (c) a backing structure coupled to a back surface of the continuous antenna reflector opposite the reflecting surface and having a plurality of actuators distributed over, and coupled to, the back surface, (2) operating each of the plurality actuators in a manner that reduces the current surface error based on the current physical state. The disclosed apparatus may include (1) a subassembly that includes (a) a plurality of conductive coils, where the coils are arranged into first and second rows that are aligned as adjacent layers along a first direction, and where the rows are offset along the first direction such that two portions of each of the coils are arranged along the first direction without overlapping and each of the two portions of each coil is aligned in parallel along a second direction orthogonal to the first direction, and (b) a body that holds the coils, (2) a structure that generates a magnetic field through the portions of the coils, where the magnetic field is directed along a third direction orthogonal to the first and second directions, and (3) a coil driver circuit that supplies current to at least some of the coils to move the structure relative to the subassembly, or vice-versa, along the first direction. The disclosed system may include (1) a subassembly including (a) conductive coils having portions oriented along a first direction, and (b) a body that holds the coils such that the portions are aligned along a second direction orthogonal to the first direction, (2) a structure that generates a magnetic field directed through at least one coil along a third direction orthogonal to the first and second directions, (3) a commutation controller that (a) receives a current command indicating a total amount of current to provide to the coils, and (b) determines, based on a present location of the body along the second direction relative to the magnetic field, a portion of the total amount to supply to each coil, and (4) a coil driver for each coil, where each coil driver supplies the portion of the total amount to the corresponding coil. Various other embodiments are also disclosed.

The disclosed apparatus may include (1) an antenna assembly defining an upper cavity with an aperture, the antenna assembly further defining a lower cavity coupled to the upper cavity via a channel along a linear edge of the antenna assembly, where the antenna assembly may include a reflective element within the lower cavity having a concave parabolic contour, and (2) an array assembly positioned in the aperture and including an array of passive elements. The reflective element may transform a divergent radio frequency (RF) beam directed toward the concave parabolic contour within the lower cavity into a collimated RF beam propagating within the lower cavity and into the upper cavity via the channel, and the array of passive elements may radiate a transmitted RF beam from the aperture in response to the collimated RF beam in the upper cavity.
