Lighting module for a motor vehicle including an optical means that is fixedly mounted in the lighting module, the optical means having a base with a first housing. A carrier of the optical means, which is translationally movable with respect to the optical means, has a base with a second housing. The carrier of the optical means is able to take a locked position in which at least one light source is held partially in the first housing and partially in the second housing, an unlocked position in which the at least one light source may be removed from the lighting module, and at least one removable light source being removable having light-emitting means.

Lighting module for a motor vehicle including an optical means that is fixedly mounted in the lighting module and has a base with a first housing. Also included is a carrier of the optical means, which is movable with respect to the optical means about an axis of rotation. The carrier of the optical means has a base with a second housing. This invention proposes lighting apparatus, for a vehicle having two passing lights for producing a passing beam, which are adapted to pivot to a position deflected to the left or to the right when the vehicle is on a left-hand bend or a right-hand bend, respectively, together with two auxiliary headlights for giving an auxiliary regulation light beam. The apparatus also includes a central unit which, when it detects failure of a passing light in its deflected position, causes the faulty passing light to be extinguished and at least one auxiliary headlight to be lit, so that the auxiliary headlight compensates for the extinction of the faulty passing light, by producing a compensating light beam which has regard to the maximum permitted regulation photometric values above a horizontal longitudinal plane.

A motor vehicle headlight has a light source cooperating with optical means to produce a beam which is generally spread widthwise. The optical means, such as a reflector, are adapted to produce in the beam two separate zones of maximum light intensity. The headlight gives two alternative functions, such as a short range lighting function for negotiating bends, and a foglight function, without the need for any movable optical components. The disclosure is also directed to a pair of vehicle lights so adapted, one on the right and one on the left of the vehicle.

The present invention concerns a lighting device for an automobile, comprising a light source situated at the first focus of a reflector of the elliptical type, a convergent lens being disposed in front of the light source so that the second focus of the elliptical reflector is contained in the object focal plane of the convergent lens, the first and second foci of the elliptical reflector defining an optical axis of the lighting device. According to the present invention, an obscuring element is disposed substantially perpendicular to the optical axis and at a distance from the object focal plane of the convergent lens.

The invention relates to a headlamp for an automobile vehicle comprising an elliptical reflector, a light source positioned in a region of the first focus of the reflector, a lens, the focus of which is in a region of the second focus of the reflector, and a mask interposed between the reflector and the lens to effect a cut-off of the light beam emitted. A mirror is located in front of the mask and adapted to return direct light rays emitted by the light source onto the front face of the mask which thereby diffuses them towards the lens.

A motor vehicle headlight comprises a reflector, a bulb, a glass, and a direct light mask provided in front of the bulb and mounted on the reflector by at least one generally vertical bracket. The reflector has a reflective surface capable of generating by itself a beam whose light is distributed widthwise in a homogeneous manner, between a zero inclination and a maximum inclination. The reflector has two lateral zones delimited by axial vertical limit-planes passing in the vicinity of the edges of the bracket or brackets, the reflective surfaces of which are such that the radiation changes progressively, from these limit-planes, between an essentially zero horizontal deviation and a divergent horizontal deviation, and a central zone situated between the said limit-planes and capable of directing a substantial part of the radiation away from the transition zones constituted by the edges of the bracket or brackets.

A motor vehicle headlight comprising: a light source; a first reflector of the ellipsoid kind having a first focus situated in the vicinity of the source; a mask passing through the second focus of the first reflector and presenting a light-passing window in the vicinity of said second focus, the shape of the window being fixed and predetermined so as to define a virtual light source whose light emission pattern corresponds essentially to said shape; and a second reflector situated on the opposite side of the mask to the first reflector and having a surface which itself determines the positions of the images of the virtual source as a function of a determined photometric distribution. The headlight is particularly suitable for use with an arc lamp that is required to co-operate with a reflector capable itself of generating a beam with a sharp cutoff.

A motor vehicle headlight of the type comprising a lamp having a filament (100), a reflector (200) defining an optical axis (Ox), and a closure glass (300), the filament emitting light freely in all radial directions thereabout and the reflector having a smooth and essentially continuous reflecting surface which reflects the rays emitted by the filament in such a manner as to cause the majority of them to be situated beneath a cut-off (hHc; hh) constituted by two half-planes of given height and slope. According to the invention the reflecting surface comprises a central zone (201i-206a; 210) which reflects rays from the filament so that they propagate in planes which are essentially vertical, two intermediate zones (201m, 203m, 205m; 202m, 204m, 206m; 220, 230) situated on either side of the central zone and connected thereto with continuity, which intermediate zones reflect the light rays from the filament by imparting a substantial deflection thereto in planes essentially parallel to the cut-off half-plane with the rays participating in defining the cut-off, and at least one peripheral zone (201e, 203e, 205e; 202e, 204e, 206e; 240, 250) situated beyond one or both intermediate zones and being connected thereto with continuity, the peripheral zone(s) reflecting the rays from the filament so that they propagate in planes which are essentially vertical and parallel to the optical axis.

A headlamp for an automobile vehicle comprises a luminous filament, a reflector, and a closing glass. According to the invention, the reflector comprises a parabolic base part and side pieces in the form of parabolic cylinders focussed on the filament, and in addition there are deflecting means, for example toroidal lenses, which re-direct the inclined rays of light received from the filament into the horizontal direction, towards the side pieces. A greater proportion of the luminous flux is thus recovered, which enables production of lamps with a small height and with a high efficiency.

A motor vehicle signal lamp of the type comprising a light source (12) and deflector means for causing the rays emitted by the source to propagate in a direction which is essentially parallel to a given general emission direction (x--x), wherein the deflector means comprise a first lens (20) which is generally balloon-shaped and disposed around the source and in proximity thereto, and a second lens (30) which is generally in the form of a plate disposed in front of the source (12) and of the first lens (20) and which extends transversely to the general emission direction, wherein the first lens comprises deflector elements (22; 23) for causing the light rays it receives from the source to be deflected at least vertically towards said second lens, and wherein the second lens (20) includes deflector elements (32, 34) for deflecting the light rays it receives from the first lens at least horizontally to a direction which is substantially parallel to said general emission direction (x--x). The invention also provides means on the first lens for distributing light flux so as to cause the distribution of light on the illuminated area to be highly uniform in the direction of its width.
