Methods, systems and apparatuses for voltage regulation are disclosed. For an embodiment, a voltage regulator includes a power source block configured to convert an input voltage to an output voltage to supply current to an output load, a storage capacitor, and an active filter configured to transfer energy between the output load and the storage capacitor. A conversion ratio of the active filter is controlled by a parameter related to the output voltage, and a conversion ratio of the power source block is at least partially controlled by a parameter related to the voltage on the storage capacitor.

A low noise amplifier (LNA) includes a bank of selectable first transistors and a bank of selectable second transistors complementary to the first transistors. The LNA also includes a plurality of switches to select one or more of the first transistors and to select one or more of the second transistors, the selected first transistors positioned in series with respect to the selected second transistors. The LNA also includes switching logic to control the plurality of switches, to simultaneously vary selection of the first transistors and the second transistors during calibration to substantially match output second-order distortion of the selected first transistors with that of the selected second transistors, to create high second-order intercept points.

Presented herein are systems, methods, and apparatus for ultra-low power, low noise switched capacitor radio frequency mixer. In one embodiment, there is described a method for mixing a signal. The method comprises mixing with a mixer, a received signal with a mixing signal to generate a mixed signal. The mixing signal comprises an in-phase component and an out-of-phase component and a desired frequency. The mixed signal comprises a mixed in-phase component and a mixed out-of-phase component. The method also comprises mixing one of the mixed in-phase component and the mixed out-of-phase component based on the mixing signal.

A mixer such as an I/Q mixer, having an amplifier having first and second inputs and an output. The first input corresponding to, for example, an I input, and the second input corresponding to, for example, a Q input. The mixer also including a multiple way (M-way) switch having a single input in communication with the output of the amplifier; a frequency control input; and at least four outputs. The frequency control input is configured to receive a periodic signal, and the M-way switch is configured to switch a signal received on the single input to each of the at least four outputs at a switching frequency that is determined by the periodic signal. The M-way switch is operable to switch the input signal received on the single input to each of the at least four outputs in a serial fashion.

Method and apparatus for frequency mixing of radio frequency signals

A method and apparatus for providing a dual-loop phase lock loop (PLL) for a radio-frequency (RF) receiver is provided. The dual-loop PLL may include coarse tuning circuitry and fine tuning circuitry. The coarse turning circuitry and fine tuning circuitry may be arranged in parallel. Both of the coarse tuning circuitry and fine tuning circuitry provide respective tuning signals to a voltage-controlled oscillator (e.g., a varactor tuned VCO). The coarse tuning circuitry and the fine tuning circuitry may provide the respective tuning signals simultaneously. In addition, coarse and fine tuning circuitry may be formed monolithically with other elements of the dual-loop PLL so as to provide a highly-integratable having a wide frequency lock range and high sensitivity.

A method and apparatus for providing a digital automatic gain control (AGC) for a radio-frequency (RF) receiver. The receiver comprises a logarithmic analog-to-digital converter for sampling the analog RF signals, a FIR filter for filtering the digitized signals, a resampler for resampling the digitized signals, and an automatic gain control circuit. The AGC circuit controls the resampling process to provide automatic gain control function in the digital domain. The resampler circuit has as its input a digital signal having a first plurality of bits. The output signal from the resampler has a second plurality of bits, where the second plurality of bits are less than the first plurality of bits. The automatic gain control circuit controls the resampling of the first plurality of bits to form the second plurality of bits in accordance with an automatic gain control signal.
