Exemplary embodiments are directed to power path switching between multiple charging ports of an electronic device. A device may include a charging port of a plurality of charging ports for coupling to a power supply via an over-voltage protection circuit. The device may further including a comparison unit configured to couple the charging port to the power supply based at least partially on a comparison between a voltage at an input of the over-voltage protection circuit coupled to the charging port with a voltage at the output of the over-voltage protection circuit coupled to the power supply.

Power path switching in an electronic device including a plurality of charging ports

A method, an apparatus, and a computer program product for booting the apparatus with a low-energy battery are provided. In a first configuration, the apparatus monitors a level of the battery while the battery is charging. The apparatus attempts a boot of the apparatus when the level is greater than or equal to a dynamic boot threshold. The apparatus increases the dynamic boot threshold when the boot is unsuccessful and repeating the monitoring and the attempting based on the increased dynamic boot threshold. In a second configuration, the apparatus detects a connection to an external power source. The apparatus attempts a boot using an FLCB protocol that is based upon power drawn directly from the external power source upon detecting the connection to the external power source. The apparatus attempts the boot as part of an ATC protocol when the boot using the FLCB protocol is unsuccessful.

Booting a mobile electronic device with a low battery based on a dynamic boot threshold

Exemplary embodiments are directed to systems, devices, methods, and computer-readable media for calibrating a charging current. A device may include a charger for conveying an output voltage to a chargeable device. The device may also include a monitoring system including an analog-to-digital converter for measuring a current received by the chargeable device. Further, the device may include a control device configured to receive a charging current value from the monitoring system and convey a signal to the charger in response to a comparison of the charging current value to a target current value.

Charging current calibration

A method and apparatus for current drain switching with a replica loop. The method comprises the steps of: matching a voltage across a current sense resistor with a voltage created by a reference current across a matched reference resistor; replicating an operating point of an output transistor using a scaled matched replica of the output transistor and the current sense resistor. The method then shifts a feedback voltage from the output sense resistor to the matched replica sensor and shifts the output of a gate from an output transistor to the replica transistor. A first switch is then actuated in order to preserve the gate charge of the output transistor. A second switch is actuated to sample and hold a drain voltage in the buffer in order to bias the drain of the replica transistor. A third switch is then activated to stop the output current.

Method and apparatus for drain switching with replication loop for fast LED turn on time

Techniques to linearly (in dB) adjust the gains of variable gain elements (i.e., variable gain amplifiers or VGAs) in a receiver or transmitter. An input control signal is provided to a conditioning circuit that conditions the control signal to achieve various signal characteristics. The input control signal is limited to within a particular range of values, temperature compensated, scaled (or normalized) to the supply voltages, shifted with an offset, or manipulated in other fashions. The conditioned signal is then provided to an input stage of a linearizer that generates a set of exponentially related signals. This is achieved using, for example, a differential amplifier in which the conditioned control signal is applied to the inputs of the differential amplifier and the collector currents from the differential amplifier comprises the exponentially related signals. An output stage within the linearizer receives the exponentially related signals and, in response, generates a gain control signal. By approximately matching the output stage to a gain stage of the variable gain element and by using the gain control signal generated by output stage, the gain transfer function of the VGA approximates that of the exponentially related signals.
